Just a quick reminder to ask you to sign the petition and ask all friends, colleagues etc to sign as well. There has already been a tremendous response, 21,000+ as of last Monday but Pancreatic Cancer UK are aiming for 50,000. I have been working closely with these lovely people and they are absolutely passionate and determined to make a real difference to the way that PC sufferers are treated and the choices available to us all. Worried
by Stellastar- 6 replies

I’ve been back and forth to the doctors for a good 18 months now with various symptoms. I’ve had an endoscopy. They were looking for an ulcer. Nothing found. I had a scan. They found some small gall stones. I have some lumps under my breasts. Lipomas. One on the left side is being removed under a GA. A liver blood test came back a little high but nothing more being investigated. Physical symptoms. Nausea. Unable to eat large amounts. I do get hungry and find that eating little and regular makes me feel better. So there is only a little weight loss. I’m very itchy. I also have lumps on my legs. I was sent to the hospital as the Gp thought they may have be…

looking for hope

I was diagnosed with PC and liver mets at the end of September 2018. I started chemo very quickly and had round 5 mid December. I choose to have a chemo break during the Christmas holiday because I wanted to enjoy the festivities and to be honest I haven't felt as well as I do at this present moment for a very long time. I have managed the chemo quite well and I have gained all the weight I lost prior to my diagnosis, I eat well, sleep well and apart from being tired during chemo the side effects are manageable. Whilst I was at the hospital on Thursday having my picc line cleaned I asked if a doctor could look at my stomach, its quite big and I was very worried that I mig…

First radiotherapy

Went with my husband for first radiation therapy today. Lovely staff, loads of good positive vibes but unfortunately, hopefully due to nerves and not eating etc he was so sick when we came home. Supposed to take four chemo tablets morning and evening while having the radiotherapy but since he was vomiting, seemed pointless. Anyway things seem to have settled now and the tablets have been taken. Anyone with any experience of chemo radiation out there?

Sleepless nights..

I was a call center agent for 2 years and a half. I worked in a graveyard shift so that's why I am awake at night and sleep the whole day. And suddenly I quit my job because of my personal problem. And now I am having a hard time to sleep at night because I get used to being awake at night. Maybe one of the reason also is about my family problem. I really don't know. So this is my problem now I want to sleep in a normal way but it didn't happen, so I told my friend about this then he told me to try this CBD as a medicine I did not believe him at first coz i didn't know anything about it. I came across this https://www.worldwide-marijuana-seeds.com/products/grandaddy-pur…

Feeling morbid!
by Michaela1- 11 replies

Hi people, I don't know if everybody goes through this? But I'm feeling kind of morbid, for example wondering how I can work out how much time I have left (which in reality I know we cant). I keep thinking will the end be quick, will all of a sudden I will go downhill really fast, or is not a slow process, like an illness where it's a progressive slow ending. I know this sounds really morbid, but i keep thinking theses things, googling them (with no success) etc etc. I cannot talk to my family or friends about this, so I am asking my forum friends!? Do you have these thoughts? How can I answer my questions. I think I'm going through a depressed state of 'what's the point…

Despairing
by Cazzza- 3 replies

My husband died as a result of this wretched disease 3 years ago today. The whole thing was a total whirlwind, with his death happening 3 weeks after his diagnosis. This left us with no time to discuss anything and my total fear of what was happening and perceived lack of urgency with his treatment manesfested itself in anger and sheer terror. His loss gets no easier with time and I question constantly whether he tried hard enough to stay alive, even if he ever loved me and if I should have done things differently, if I made things worse, if he knew what was wrong sooner but didn’t tell me. Life has been very complicated since his death and whilst the constant flow…

Potential pancreatic cancer, help please!
by paige_smith- 7 replies

Hi all I am brand new to this forum so bare with me please. My mum has been having various symptoms over the past 7 months and I feel helpless and worried. She started off feeling dizzy and off balance then started with mid left back pain then started having left abdominal pain. And within the past few weeks she started with bad migraines and going to the toilet more and more. She’s had many blood tests, ultrasound, CT scan and endoscopy. The consultant noticed something on her liver on the CT scan but said it was nothing to worry about but never chased it up but crossed her off as being okay. So she went back to the GP and he re referred her and she saw a liver surgeon …

Symptoms and worry
by Chrisb1985- 2 replies

Hi all. I hope this is okay to post on here- I've been suffering from abdominal pain since before december, but it was December by the time I went to the doctor about it. I had various other symptoms at the time none of which I thought were anything. I've since then had blood tests, urine tests, absominal and scrotal ultrasound, endoscopy and all of it has come back clear. I'm still having pains and my doctor thinks it is ibs. I'm 32 and never had a problem with this before. I'm getting a lot of indigestion, I'm tired all the time, have a rash on my face along with itching and my stools have become less regular. I'm the same weight as I was in January and still have …

Reluctance 1 2 3

I have had severe pain left upper abdominal, spreading through to my back, every night for 14 months, taking 2 100mg Tramadol + 2 300mg Gabapentin before bed, these take the edge off the pain but mainly assist sleep. I have had 3 children 2 painful ectopic pregnancies and have never suffered pain like this. Tests: Stomach Xray, Gynea scan, CT, MRI, MRCP, Barium & Bloods. All negative. Any suggestion that I have a pancreas problem is dismissed. 1 consultant says "I need to learn to live with the pain", another says "there is nothing wrong with her". GP is kind but also reluctant to accept possibility of anything wrong with pancreas. Have searched the net for…

I feel as if time has stood still. My mum was diagnosed with pc in January 2018 and given 12-18months to live without any treatment. She started palliative chemo in February and managed two rounds before neutropenic sepsis took hold. Got out of hospital in April. Was relatively pain free for a month or so and then pain took hold again. No further chemo allowed as it might kill her. She doesn’t want radiotherapy as offered maximum palliative dose of 25 rounds, said she didn’t think she could cope with it. I think I just need to put my thoughts out there with people who understand. Everyday I have to give her a clexane injection after work, I feel awful, it hurts her but I…

PET scan vs CT Scan accuracy
by srshelly- 2 replies
- 11.5k views
Hi all, My dad is 57, was diagnosed with locally advanced PC in May 2018 after symptoms of back and abdominal pain. His original CT scan showed a 1.9 x 3.0 x 2.7 cm mass in the head of the pancreas, with SMA and SMV involvement. His CA19-9 at diagnosis was 80. He has had 6 cycles of modified FOLIFIRINOX. His CT scans showed no shrinkage or growth of the tumor after the first 6 cycles. We decided to get a second opinion, where they immediately suggested a PET scan, which he had not gotten up to this point. The PET scan showed no fdg uptake anywhere, including the pancreas. We are puzzled by these results, and haven't gotten a clear answer of what this could mea…

Every time i search for tips and help on how to go about this i come up with American websites or fundraising for charities. Holiday Insurance
by Suziq2302- 3 replies

Good Evening I'm trying to get holiday insurance for our trip to Florida in 3 weeks time. We went last year whilst I had a chemo break and managed to get insurance for around £450. Since then I've been told that the cancer has returned and I'm now classed as terminal. I've recently completed 6 months of chemo and fortunately the cancer hasn't grown or spread. I'm well, working part time, walking the dogs and going to the gym 4 times a week. I've done comparison sites and various other insurance companies through Cancer research but as of now I can't get anyone to quote me. I'm hoping someone on here can point me in the direction of an insurance company who will at leas…

Potential PC diagnosis
by Pippin- 1 reply

Hello I’m currently in the early stages of a diagnosis pathway where “something wrong with The pancreas” could be the outcome and I’m a bit worried it is cancer. Firstly let me start by saying I had my gallbladder and appendix out 2 years ago and various types of cancer have affected most of my family. I am a female in my mid 20s (I know statistically it is very rare to get pc at this age). About 3 weeks ago I went to the Drs thinking I had maybe a kidney infection (back/abdomen pain), a dip test was done and he said no it is likely to be back pain. Come back if it gets worse. I was back the follow week as the pain was getting worse and my abdomen was swellin…

Advice - Undiagnosed (but with Mesenteric Adenitis)

After reading many stories of peoples' PC diagnoses and their myriad of symptoms, I feel guilty for posting on here...I know many people are dealing with much more real, time-sensitive health issues. Just reading them, I've cried several times, as I have with my own set of symptoms. Before I write any further, I should confess that I just had a CT scan of my abdomen with contrast the other day, and too my relief, but also utter disbelief, found that I am cancer free. With that said, I would still love if anyone who had shared my symptoms, and either thought they had cancer or knows about the symptoms that mimic PC symptoms, could help shed some light on my health issu…

hi everyone,i was wondering if i could have some advice. i had a pain in my left side near the bottom of the ribs slighty to the back area for 12 months, doctor thought it was a torn muscle so i left it for 6 months,i went back as the pain had gotten worse, they then said it could be a stomache ulcer,so i was put on omeprozole 2 a day.i took that for 6 months and did nothing so went back to the gp. they then sent me for ultrasound and all looked good except couldnt see pancrease due to stomach gas,so they then sent me for endoscopy,i was given all clear on that so again i went back to the doctor, each time fighting for them to listen to me!!! the pain 10 weeks ago has…

Research on early detection blood test

Thought people might be interested in this promising research http://www.smh.com.au/national/major-breakthrough-as-researchers-develop-blood-test-for-eight-common-cancers-20180118-h0kmdv.html It would certainly have helped dad to have this test in 2014 when he developed a large thrombosis but no evidence of disease on an abdominal ultrasound. They did tell him his cancer would have been there for years before it reached critical mass.

35yr old male. In good health. I initially went to the Dr 2 months ago with frequent urination, painful testes and lower abdomen. They think it was epididymitis or prostatitis and was put on antibiotics (trimethoprim) for 4 weeks For the last month I've been having upper left quadrant pain. The fisrt instance of the pain was acctually more in the upper middle abdomen, it was a stabbing pain which caused me not to sleep - this only happened once. Now the pain is more of an uncomfortable, dull aching sensation in the left upper region. This also occasionally radiates to the left side of my back. It comes and goes but I can always feel something. In the morning my…

Hi, this is my first time ever using a forum. My Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 5 months ago, he is now on a chemo treatment every two weeks to help keep further progression at bay. When he was diagnosed he was told he didn’t need to worry about his diabetes management and eat/drink what he fancied. Recently his glucose levels have been spiking and he is getting mixed advise from diabetes nurse and doctors as to whether he needs to manage his glucose or not. What are other people’s experience? Does he need to go back to managing his diabetes? Thanks in advance, any advise or learning about other people’s experience would be really helpful 😊
