An update from our friends at Live Through This: Hi all, In response to the novel coronavirus preventing our usual peer support meetings and the postponement of our LGBTIQ+ Cancer Awareness Event, we are working with Maggies to provide an online peer support session. This session is a hosted video chat with multiple key safeguarding controls and a robust policy in place. The hosts are myself with Michael (ex centre head and nurse) and Lianne (head and neck cancer specialist) from Maggies. We hope to provide a space where LGBTIQ+ folk who are in isolation, as per public health and government guidance, can still have an opportunity to connect and discuss issue…

Important information about the supply of Creon 40,000
by Support Team- 0 replies
- 8.7k views
We would like to let you know that Mylan, the company that makes Creon, will not be making Creon 40,000 from June 2019. This is because they can't get enough of the enzymes used to make the 40,000 capsules. These are different to the enzymes used for the 10,000 and 25,000 capsules. The 10,000 and 25,000 capsules will still be available, and the company will now be making more of these. There is currently supply of Creon 40,000 available, so this change will happen in the next few months. If you take Creon 40,000 at the moment, you can still get enough enzymes using Creon 25,000 which are slightly smaller capsules. For example: if you normally take one 40,000 capsule…

We are keen to hear from people who are interested in sharing their story on our website. Sharing your experience can help others understand what it’s like to have pancreatic cancer, or care for someone with pancreatic cancer. It can help others realise they are not alone, and that other people have been through similar experiences. You can write your story in your own words, or we can speak to you over the telephone and write up your story for you. We may edit your story slightly, but you will be able to see the story before it’s published on our website, to make sure you are happy with it. If you are interested in sharing your story, please fill …

This year, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) produced the first ever guidelines for the diagnosis and management of pancreatic cancer. We have updated our patient charter to include these guidelines. The patient charter explains the care you should expect and receive during diagnosis and treatment, including managing symptoms and the emotional impact of pancreatic cancer. It’s based on all UK guidelines for treating pancreatic cancer. The NICE guidelines are aimed at health professionals. Because we think it’s important that people with pancreatic cancer understand what the guidelines mean for them, we have produced a version for patients and…

You may have already seen on social media and our website that we have recently produced a new booklet, Pancreatic cancer and end of life care. We have produced this because people have told us that they struggle to find specific information about what might happen in the last few months of life and how to deal with this. The booklet includes information about the symptoms people with pancreatic cancer may get towards the end of their life and how to manage these. There is also information about how to access the care and support they might need, dealing with the emotional impact of dying from pancreatic cancer, and specific information for family members. We hope it …

We are delighted to announce that the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has today [4 August] notified us of their landmark decision to grant access to the life-extending drug, Abraxane, for people with advanced pancreatic cancer in England. This news is a major success for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer, especially given the lack of treatment options currently available. At the moment, people diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in the UK will typically live for just two to six months after diagnosis. Patients who are eligible for Abraxane will have been diagnosed too late for surgery to be an option. Surgery is the only treatment fo…
