Help - scared

Postby Beans » Tue Oct 15, 2019 8:06 pm

Hello,

Not sure where to turn so decided to post here. Just feel scared and lost, and have convinced myself I have PC. Doctor just laughed and said I didn't.

Have been feeling unwell for over a year. Had blood tests, ultrasound on my abdominal area and told all fine just gastritis. Have been prescribed 2 types of antacids ( now randitidine) which don't make much difference.

Have stools that range from diarrhea, light/pale coloured or small pencil shaped. 99% time float and always appear greasy. I can't remember when they were last even nearly normal. Have really bad wind, gurgling in stomach upper and lower. Pain/pressure below right rib. Also feels like my stomach is swollen and bloated, but this isn't affected by eating or food. Have pain going across ribs and occasional back pain.

Doctor has told me there is nothing serious as ultrasound and bloods clear. Told to keep taking randitidine. I feel there is something serious wrong as never had these problems before but Dr thinks I just gave health anxiety.

I'm thinking about finding the money and going private. If I did, should I get a CT/MRI scan.

Just don't know what to do and need some direction xx

Hi Beans,

Thanks for your forum post - I am pleased that you were able to take the step to post.

So sorry to hear that you are having health concerns of late, with some worrying symptoms.

Can I ask if you know what bloods you had done exactly beans? And also, have you taken a poo sample in at all to be sent off and examined? This could be for something like any bacterial infections, or whether any fat is being excreted in the poo (faecal elastase). If you are having greasy poo which floats, then its worth asking about this.

Have you been tested for Helicobacter Pylori at all? And also Coeliac disease? Or Irritable Bowel Disease? (IBD)

Your symptoms could be some of the above so its a good idea to rule out these in the first instance.

Perhaps see if you can have another chat with your gp about the above things Beans?

If you need to contact us on the email address below, please feel free to do so.

Kind regards,

Jeni.

Thank you so much for your reply. I have had blood tests for liver/kidney function plus the normal ones for red/white levels etc. I've had my stool tested for all of the conditions you mention although I don't think for fat content. I have cut gluten out of my diet as suggested by my GP. All the blood and stool tests have done back clear. The ultrasound found nothing including a normal pancreatic head.

I have also lost around 4kg in last few weeks.

I'm not sure what to do now. Would asking for a stool test on fat content be worth doing? Am I being paranoid? Pain on ruq does not go away plus pressure in stomach/gas/stool issues don't resolve.

Thank you for your time x
