carolelisabeth
Hi, my husband has just had 2 mri scans which show a lesion on the body of the pancreas and a possible 2 smAll lesions on the liver, which they are not sure if they are cancerous( but probably) he is going fora biopsy.my problem is they say that eve if the biopsy comes back negative it wouldn't necessary mean they are not cancerous and would do another biopsy to make sure. These seems very time wasting to me has anyone else been in this position. Some advice pleaae
Slewis7313
Hi Carolelisabeth, I had something similar where a lesion was discivered on my Pancreas (Devember 2012) using ultra sound and a CT scan. I was lined up for a chemo assesment before the biopsy was done. It was a good call and avoided delays as they were pretty sure it was cancerous. The biopsy results came back just before chemo started as inconclusive.... No cancer could be identified. However, this is apparently not that unusual and the consensus of the Multidisciplinary Team team was that the lesion was acting in a cancerous manner and was treated accordingly. The fact that I responded well to the chemo is the proof that the thing is actually cancerous.Hope this is of use!Steve
MSH
Just to echo Steve, I had two biopsies plus cell brushings when the stent was fitted. All came back indeterminate though the surgeon veered towards Cholangiocarcinoma. In the event my oncologist thought pancreatic more likely which led to me having Folfirinox with good response so far.
