dad lost his battle on the 6th of may, in memory of him a poem I wrote for his funeral

DEAR DAD

SORRY DAD , I BROKE A PROMISE TO YOU ,

YOU BEGGED ME NOT TO CRY ,WHEN YOU SAID GOODBYE.

AS HARD AS I TRY , THE TEARS STILL FLOW,

IN MY HEART YOU WILL STAY ,I WILL NEVER LET YOU GO.

THE DAY WE LOST YOU

THE SUN SHON BRIGHT AND THE BIRDS SUNG IN THE TREES,

THIS ANNOYED ME ,

IT WAS AS IF THEY DID NOT KNOW I WAS NOW THE FATHERLESS ONE.

THAT CANCER DID NOT BEAT US , IT BROUGHT US CLOSER TOGETHER ,

IT UNITED US AS FATHER AND SON .

YOU BECAME MY HERO ,

A SUPERDAD , WHO WOULD FIGHT TO STAY US ,WITH ALL HE HAD .

IN MY DREAMS , YOU WOULD LIVE FOREVER,

YOU ARE A PART OF ME , SO WHERE EVER I AM YOU WILL BE .

YOU TOLD ME YOU WOULD ALWAYS BE THERE FOR ME

JUST BECAUSE I CANT SEE YOU IT SEEMS SO UNFAIR .

IF I COULD HAVE YOU BACK HEALTHY ,

EVEN IF IT WAS JUST FOR ONE DAY ,

I WOULD THANKYOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE AND FOR CREATING THE FAMILY

THAT MOULDS ME TO THE MAN I AM TODAY.

SLEEPTIGHT DAD LOVE YOU

I am sorry to hear that you lost your dad to this, I know how terribly distressing it must be for you. He is still with you lovely, everything he is and everything he taught you runs through your veins. It is a lovely poem and a fitting tribute to you dad. You have done him proud. x

There is no easy way to lose someone you love Tintin. I think you wrote a lovely poem for your Dad and it's clear that although it wasn't long enough at least this dreadful disease brought you closer. The length of a life is not what matters. Your Dad clearly touched you and you carry a little of him in your genes, he has not left you but goes on in everything you do in life and in all the little mannerisms and looks that you share.

Thank you for sharing your poem M xx
