Memory loss/confusion

My husband was diagnosed with non-operable PC last summer and has been having cycles of gemcitabine. Over New Year he suffered the first period of 'confusion' and 'lost' 2 days. And again this week he had another episode but this time it passed after a few hours and he seemed back to normal the next morning. Has anyone else had similar experiences or know what may cause these? I found these quite scary.
