How long did it take to have a treatment plan in place?

At the start of November my mother was diagnosed with the Norovirus by a GP over the telephone, a month later she developed Jaundice, she went back to the GP, bloods were followed by an CT and then an MRI all within three days.  We knew there was a mass in the pancreas on the 13th December, but did not have a follow up appointment until 30th December, during which time she was very unwell.  A stent was fitted in January and a biopsy of the mass taken and brushes of the CBD.  Three weeks later another appointment to confirm the mass was malignant.  Two weeks later another appointment with a General surgeon to discuss the possibility of the Whipple, although by now the original scans are too old and she needs both a PET scan and a Colonoscopy to confirm that there is no spread, and we are also told if there is no spread the surgery won't be performed until April.  We are 9 weeks in and are still waiting for tests and a care plan.  Is the wait time normal?

My Dad was being tested every 6 months following previous testicular cancer. Dec 2022 we were informed the cancer markers were up in his blood test. CT scan booked for Jan found a mass near the pancreas. Feb PET scan shows mass near pancreas and a spot on the liver. Biopsy booked for 7th Feb. Had the results of biopsy last week over the phone and informed a 'type of pancreatic cancer' - frustratingly very little information given. Was informed he would be referred for a surgery team to review options. We were informed Thursday last week that surgery isn't an option with the spot showing on the liver and they cannot treat - he will give chemo to control.

We have many many questions with very little answers yet provided! We are now waiting for referral to a pancreatic specialist at the cancer hospital. 3 months in - and we have not started!

With the testicular cancer in 2019 it was much faster moving - which is surprising me with how deadly pancreatic is. He was diagnosed, operated on the following week and straight in for chemo. This is much much slower, which we now has devastating impact. It's frustrating!

No, we’ve had a failed colonoscopy procedure and now need a CT of the colon for more investigations. So still no treatment plan in place.

I really hope things start to move for you. We were informed this morning that my dad has a consultant appointment on Monday which I’m guessing will be about starting chemo.

If you have the details if your consultants assistant maybe get in touch. Waiting is so frustrating as I bet like me, you feel that time can’t be wasted with this!

I hope things start moving for you
