My Mum is under the hospice for palliative care for metastatic pancreatic cancer. She had 8 litres of fluid drained from her abdomen in April, but it is back and worse than before. Mum has not sought medical advice because she is reluctant to undergo a prolonged stay in hospital again. She would like to have a stent fitted so it can be drained at home, but her oncologist is saying no. She has only heard this through the clinical nurse because she has no further appointments with the oncologist, although he still seems to be directing her care. Does anyone know why he would be against a stent and any advice on where to go from here?

BTW oncologist has advised that he doesn’t believe she will still be with us in late August to meet her new grandson, but I still believe there is a good chance (he also only gave her 2-3 months back in November and she is still with us).
