Henny Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Hello, I was due to have my 3rd chemo session today but it has been postponed to next week as my white blood cell count was too low. I'm really upset and worried about this. Chemo is my only hope . Any advice or experience with this would be very welcome. Thank you xx
Louise Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Hi Henny. I’m sorry to hear your session has been postponed. My husband experienced this a couple of weeks ago, with his neuts being too low. On his last chemo session they gave him a Pelgraz injection to do at home himself, 24 hours after his pump was taken out. I’ve heard the low count is very common during chemo and peoples levels tend to get better after having a further weeks break
Mumshelper Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Hi Henny I’m sorry to hear your chemo was postponed. It is very common and although it’s frustrating as you just want the chemo over and done with, focus on getting your strength up and prepared for the next one. The first chemo my mum missed we felt so disheartened but once we realised we could have extra time to prepare her for the next one, it changed our mindset a little. There are so many ups and downs on this journey and this is another hiccup on the road but you will go into your next chemo feeling stronger for it and more determined I’m sure xx

Sandyvon Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 Henry: As I was having recurring infections post Modified Folfirinox chemo, I was given “Grastofil” to inject a few days after chemotherapy for five days to support my bone marrow to produce white blood cells to fight infection. I was fortunate that through Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), a genetic mutation was found and I’ve had a good response to targeted drug therapy so I’m no longer on chemo at this time. Best wishes during your treatment.
