Fundraising for treatment - any advice

Hi, I'm trying to work out how best to raise the funds to pay for Nanoknife, if it is suitable, for my brother. Every time i search for tips and help on how to go about this i come up with American websites or fundraising for charities.

Has anyone come across blogs or websites that offer tips on what type of events and any legalities/financial issues.

The only advice I can give is a go fund me page....but I Don't really know how successful they are. Maybe as it is such nice weather summer bbq/fete where people and local can donate brick a brac....local supermarkets may donate food. Do you have a lions club around you, they can be very good at fund raising advice? Sorry cannot be of more help..... I too would like to think nanoknife could be a good option, but I don't think they can do mine as it is stage 4 and spread to liver and around cavity.

Hi Michaela1,

Thanks for your reply. I had not thought of the Lions Club as I've no experience with them. I'll add them to the list :-)

On a different thread on here i mentioned that the PA to the professor, who does Nanoknife at XXX hospital in London, can review your CT scan for free to assess if you would be suitable, and also he will talk to people who have questions about their suitability. I don't know how much you know about his work but he does do work on Stage 4 and when it's in the liver too, but obviously i have no idea of the details as to what extent he can and can't do work on.

Hi,

Thanks for that, I have only read from what I've picked up on here really, but good to know that he will look for free and give advice! I think will do 6 sessions first and get the next scan, then he can have a comparison from the folrinox treatment, what do you think? I guess at my stage anything is worth looking at. Very much the same as you though, I would have absolutely no way of paying for it privately!

Michaela1 - It does appear that Nanonkife is usually done after you've had a certain amount of chemo, or mid way though. Perhaps you could have a chat with one of the nurses on here to see what they know, and then contact the prof. Probably best to comment or create a thread on here other than this if you want to compare notes about potential treatment with people.

Having to try and raise money for treatment is a horrid position to be in. If you go ahead with it have a chat to friends, colleagues, etc colleagues and workplaces, family to see if they can come up with ideas and are willing to help.

Hi both,

I have Stage IV PC as well including on the liver and other organs. I am due to have Nanoknife imminently, first to the liver and then to the pancreas. I may also have a shadow on my lung which requires further investigation. I am paying for my treatment out of my life insurance, which also covered terminal illness (life expectancy of less than one year). Check your cover, they paid up with no argument.

I have created a thread for Nanoknife so you can follow my progress there.
