Sueoliver
Thankyou for all the kind words and advice. The GP gas no idea why she was sick! Same GP who gave her various tablets for 8 months before she was diagnosed! I am going to see how she is tomorrow and urge her to go to the hospital if no better! You just never know with this disease! We booked this little break a couple of weeks ago we are only going to Edinburgh so I can get back quickly! Fingers crossed this little hiccup will pass! Guest
You reminded me of me. The same doctor that misdiagnosed my Dad, still sees my Dad now, and I don't trust a single word that man says. Dad says he does anything for him now, whenever he wants, think that's called guilt! Anyway, can your mum see a different doctor? Do you trust him? Really hope she goes to the hospital tomorrow. Was she sick after any other meal, or just that one?I don't know where you live Sue, os it near Edinburgh?Sorry for all the questions.Leila xx
Sueoliver
Gosh your Dad sounds like my Mum. The GP sees her whenever she wants and she likes him!! I absolutely would never see him myself! She always asks for that DR! Funny old world! I think she was only sick once and maybe it was the wind that caused it! She said she felt a bit better afterwards!I live in Surrey just going to Edinburgh for a break! Sue x
Guest
I wrote a letter of complaint to him. He misdiagnosed my Dad for so long. Even told him he must be anxious about something! I wanted to take the complaint further, but Dad said he would have got this no matter what. Dad can get him to come round anytime he wants and will prescribe him anything! Dad will only see him. The feelings I get when I see him are just indescribable. Does your mum take omeprazole? When Dad has wind, he said when he goes to the toilet it makes him feel better. They do sound quite similar, though from different ends. It must be something more than just 'wind', to cause such upset. Leila xx
brodders
Crikey this all sounds so familiar. My mum went back and forth to the doctors until in the end she had 'painless jaundice' which is an indication of pc which was diagnosed straight away by the lovely doctors at the hospital. As for the GPs well another story....When my mum came out of hospital she was in acute pain with wind - the GP told her to come off the creon - one of the drugs we all know is so important for pc suffers. I was fortunately on the phone to one of the nurses Kathy or Jenni who told me to hand the phone to him and she spoke directly informing him how important it was. So unfortunately they really don't know everything! Take care all !! Cate
Sueoliver
This morning apparently the wind was better but as the day has gone on it has got steadily worse! Burping constantly which has a smell to it! Cate did your mum have terrible burping? It was nice to hear from you hope you are ok? Leila not sure about omeprazole I haven't heard her mention that one! What is it for? Thankyou everyone for your suggestions. Sue x
Didge
Omeprazole and lansoprazole are used to inhibit acid production for treating acid reflux. A lot of PC sufferers have reflux.

Sueoliver
Managed to have a few days away without any calls! Got back on Monday and had to call GP out to Mum. He gave her some codeine and is organising a blood test. Today Mum went to A and E with terrible pain and sickness! They x rayed her stomach but the stents were fine. The only thing they could see was fluid around the pancreas! They said maybe this was causing the pain and sent her home! She isn't eating very much as she says nothing interests her! She said she just has to put up with it! Apparently her GP is writing to the oncologist maybe they will give her an appointment. She is on her chemo break to build her strength up and try to put on weight! That is never going to happen the way she is now! I find all this very worrying! Didge
Oh, Sue, always something to worry about isn't there? I do hope she can get relief soon. It's quite hard to cope with sickness AND pain. One or the other is hard enough on its own. Sounds like she is very stoical though and perhaps that will help her through this until it settles down. x
sandraW
Sue glad you managed to get a short break, even though you had to come back to more problems for your poor mum. Could you not ring the treatment room yourself and ask if you can have a referral back to the oncologist and get things moving quickly, mum should not be left with pain and sickness. Does she have a Macmillan nurse you could contact for advice, or a specialist nurse, she shouldn't have to wait, take care sandrax
Sueoliver
Thank you Didge and Sandra I will contact her pallative care nurse. She is stoical and of the era that thinks she just has to put up with it! I went to my GP yesterday and we were chatting about Mum and he said to me that they had many new cases of PC recently that he was studying it! That's quite scary but also good it's being spoken about ! So many sad stories and struggles on here at the moment! Everyone take care. Sueoliver
Thankyou everyone. She is in the medical assessment unit and they are keeping her in. They are going to do a CT scan and an endoscopy but I'm not sure when! She has been very sick and looked so sad! Breaks my heart as all she keeps saying is she wants to get better! Will post when I know what is wrong. Sue x
Guest
Oh Sue, I am so sorry. Your poor Mum. I know how much it hearts when they are so sad, it's my Dads birthday next weekend and I asked him what he wanted and he said a new Pancreas! I really do think that it is so hard for us relatives, when we see our parents so sad and so scared, and there is nothing we can do. I hope they don't wait until Monday to do the tests. Is she in a good hospital where they will look after her well?Leia xx
