Nelsmum Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Hi Steve, I saw you mentioned your sore mouth in another's post, if it is thrush I found vitamin B (multi B) helped me (for the other kind of thrush). However as I am sure you know you would have to check with your medics as to whether they are ok with that. You would have to take double the daily dose to have an effect and as I say, it may not be appropriate. Another thing is live plain unsweetened yoghurt, hold it mouth for a little while before swallowing, it might sooth.Jane C

Bee Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Hi Steve,I rarely post on here now but do lurk and follow progress. Had to log on and wish you a belated happy birthday. I am delighted you have reached a milestone birthday and have been able to celebrate with your family. I continue to follow your progress and wish you well. I know Chris would also have been pleased for you and echoed my wishes, although he never posted he knew about you as your treatment and condition was so similar to his in the early days.Keep fightingBee xx
nikkis Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Sorry for hijacking Steve, but just wanted to say hi Bee,my fellow HV, I think of you all the time,Love,Nikki
Slewis7313 Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 Thanks Bee, good to know you are still watching over us. Hijacks are most welcome here Nikki!I started my 4th Folfirinox cycle yesterday and as you can see from the time stamp, the body clock is again confused....otherwise feeling OK.SteveX
Bee Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 You too Nikki! Can you private message on here, anyone know? If not perhaps I will ask nurses to send you an email with my contact xSorry Steve! X
nikkis Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 No you can't private message on here, but yes get them to give you my email Bee.Thanks Steve, you night owl, Paul normally takes a sleeping tablet for a couple of nights post chemo, and that does the trick.
Slewis7313 Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 Need a little advice please. The chemo is going OK, though the neuropathy is worse (hands and feet) and I seem to now have thrush. Is there any thrush treatment available without prescription to tide me over until I can ask my specialist nurse for something on Monday? Thanks in advance!SteveX
Didge Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Probiotics are supposed to help. Get someone to ask at a health food shop for best option. I'm assuming it's oral thrush? You can get probiotic capsules which are stronger than the yoghurts people use.
MSH Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Steve, most of the anti-thrush stuff doesn't need a prescription you should be able to buy nystatin oral suspension from most chemists. I never had it in my mouth, just some mouth ulcers but I did get some sort of fungal lesion on my cheek which cleared quickly enough with canesten.
Slewis7313 Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 Thanks both, Margaret is heading into town to see what she can find.Steve
SueH Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Hi SteveHope your wife has managed to get a remedy. Re your sleep patters my husband took levomepromazine also known as Nozinam for a few nights after chemo it is a relaxant and helps you sleep as well as an anti sickness med so it can be very useful.
