Hi there, so sorry to hear about your brother...you have come to the right place for support and understanding, whether you want information or just to vent the complete range of emotions you will go through in the future! Everyone here is so kind and thoughtful and towers of strength to us all even though we don't know each other! I can't possibly comment on your brother's case but please don't lose hope so quickly. My mum was diagnosed last July with inoperable pc and was at the time in screaming agony - it had spread to lymph glands and wrapped itself around arteries. I too thought the end was nigh and became stressed out and inconsolable for a while...I had read too many statistics and various websites and of cause thought that she only had a couple of months. Well she's still with us and has been tolerating Gemcap well and even putting on 11lbs! She's enJoying life still and especially shopping! She's even booked a holiday in April! There are bad days though and she has pain occasionally but her Macmillon nurse and gp have been wonderful and got her medication balanced well. All I'm saying is that don't automatically think there will only be bad news and times from now. It is an evil disease but try and enjoy the time you have and be as positive as you can even though it's the hardest thing to do at the moment but I know that's what has kept my mum going so well. Take care and take heart from the good news stories on this site! Everyone on this site is here for you. Xx

Hi, welcome to the forum. I am so sorry to hear about your brother. I am sure you will get lots of useful information from Jeni if you email her with the specifics of your brother's case, along with any questions you have - the team are a wonderful source of both information and support so do take advantage of this resource if you can.

Jacqui is absolutely right to reassure you that all is not lost. My husband was extremely ill when first diagnosed. I too, at the time, thought he had little time left, it was another 15 months before this was actually the case. Do take heart from this and all of the positive stories on the forum. I am sure you will find out more, once the biopsy results come back and discussions about treatment options take place. Be sure to suggest to him to mention the pain he is experiencing - they can up his dose, if need be - no need for him to suffer. Men are not good at admitting they can't cope with pain - not a time to be hero, tell him!

I am sure you must be worried sick about your brother and, as you say, finding the waiting to find out what the situation is difficult to bear - we all understand how that is and sympathise. You are not alone, at least. Not much comfort I know, but I do hope we can help you and offer you a place to share your worries and concerns.

Take care and let us know how your brother gets on. Sending you lots of love.

Deb
