dave b Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 HiAs a newly diagnosed Cancer sufferer, I've been trying to get my head round lots of issues. One thing that struck me was that many pertinent questions are asked on here and the answers seem to end up being a private chat or email between a nurse and the question poser. I wondered if there was merit in publishing the answer(s) to the questions on the actual forum (provided the person asking is happy with that.)
PCUK Nurse Rachel R Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Hi dave b,I do appreciate where you’re coming from in wanting to find out answers to questions. We recognise that some people are not comfortable in sharing more than a certain level of information for public view, which is completely understandable and we have to maintain people’s privacy. Sometimes getting ‘answers’ posted relies on others on the forum replying and we know that the forum can be quiet at times. At times like these we would want to post to show that we have a service available that can answer these questions. If appropriate our reply will answer a general question but we will often direct the person to our support line as this is likely to offer a much more helpful and individualised approach. We know that many people are joining the Facebook group – ‘living with and beyond pancreatic cancer’ and gaining valuable support from this too. I hope that’s helpful for you,Rachel Rachel RichardsonPancreatic Cancer Specialist NurseSupport TeamPancreatic Cancer UKemail: nurse@pancreaticcancer.org.uksupport line: 0808 801 0707
dave b Posted March 23, 2020 Author Posted March 23, 2020 Thanks. Even a general answer would be better than nothing. IMHO
