Maku42 Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Dear All, I’ve joined this forum as I needed some support. My sweet dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on 10 days ago. We have been advised that it is Stage 4, advanced and has spread to his liver. He had a CT scan in June which came back with the all clear, but he continued to have abdominal pain/diarrhea and the doctors advised it wasn’t anything serious. We ended up rushing him to hospital as the pain become unbearable and he was struggling. We received the heartbreaking news a few days later. The doctors don’t feel that chemotherapy is an option at the moment as it would only make him sicker, so it is difficult to watch him deteriorate. They are giving him steroids with the hope it will improve his symptoms. I feel at a complete loss. It’s difficult to concentrate on work, when all I really want to do is be by his side. I know once he comes home he will need around the clock care and I don’t feel it is fair on my mum to shoulder the burden on her own, so I am considering taking time out to support her and my dad. It’s just feels like a lot emotionally and I am struggling. I want to remain positive in front of my dad but it is difficult to watch him become a shadow of his former self.Today we were advised that the growth has spread to his lungs and he possibly has days left....
