Charlie81
Sadly for me, my Dad's isn't operable so I cannot help. However, the nurses on here are really knowledgeable and wonderful. I would ask them but I would also ask the people involved in your husband's care. Make your voice heard and you will either understand and it will allay your fears or you can then push for what you want.Good luck. PCUK Nurse Jeni
Hello Debz,Thank you for your post, and I am sorry that you have found yourself on these forums - understandably, not a place you would wish to be. I know that you will find some great support from others on here who are going through the same or similar stories. Debz, its very likely that the second hospital is probably a specialist centre for pancreatic cancer surgery - and this is why your husband has been referred there - each local hospital in the UK will have a specialist centre which they "feed into" , so to speak, in the case of a person needing an operation. Pancreatic operations are not carried out in local hospitals, and are always referred to specialist centres of excellence. Its likely that the team are doing the keyhole surgery in order to have a good look inside the abdomen to ensure there is nothing which might prevent an operation visible, such as the cancer having spread. Its more or less making 100% sure , as much as they can, that this is something which is in your husbands best interests. Please do give us a call or drop us an email if we can be of further assistance - the contact details are in the signature below.Kindest regards,Jeni.
