Sorry I haven't posted for a while.....believe it or not we've been enjoying an almost normal life!!

Adrian had a scan in February. When we saw his oncologist she said she was amazed by Adrian, she wanted to stop treatment last summer, but he tolerated thee 2nd line treatment far better than the gem\abraxane, and his weight has gone from eight and a half stone up to ten stone! His reward has been 3months off chemo, which has been wonderful. He'll be scanned again in May, then we'll get the results 22nd May to find out what the next few months hold for us.

I still remember 8th December 2016 when we were told his cancer had returned and was considered palliative, never in my wildest dreams did I think he would still be here, but he is, and looking and feeling better than he has throughout 2017.

I hope this post offers a crumb of comfort to anyone who needs it xx

Adrian had another scan in May, we went for the results this week. It was amazing! Nothing short of a miracle. There are no tumours present! His last chemo was back in January and we were prepared to go back on it, instead we were given this wonderful news, so we'll be making the most of this wonderful time for however long it lasts xx

We were doing so well.

2018 was a marvellous year for which i'll be forever grateful. All Adrian's scans were clear, so I finished work last September. We had a lovely holiday in Jersey and enjoyed Christmas together.

Adrian had his routine scan early February and we were due to get the results 4th March. However, in the weeks leading up to that appointment Adrian started having bad headaches, then his vision became a problem finally he had difficulty walking and speaking. He was admitted to a&e and a brain scan confirmed a tumour. They also looked at his body scan, and once again that was clear. They operated 29th March, he recovered really well, so they discharged him 31st March on the condition that he stayed home and relaxed.

Last week we saw his oncologist, who has ordered another Ct scan of his head and body. Today we've been to see the doctor who deals with brain radiotherapy. He was lovely, so easy to talk to, but I think a lot depends on the rresults of the Ct scans he's about to have. I am very concerned as he gets giddy, and has some pains around his ribs occasionally.

His oncologist said it's unusual to have mets to the brain, I said it knew where to hide.

We're back on that dreaded rollercoaster again

When Adrian had an MRI scan in preparation for radiotherapy another 3 tumours were found. They were zapped along with the hole where his first tumour was. I truly hoped that was the last of the brain mets,however, we were devastated when his headaches and confusion returned in July.

The MDT told us its very aggressive and no treatment is available for him. He's currently on steroids, but his outlook is very very poor.

We are heartbroken.

My beautiful kind and gentle husband of nearly 40 years died 30th December. The end was peaceful, I had my arms around him and our dog was at our feet in the middle of us. I am forever grateful to our palliative care team that he was able to die at home in our bed.

I am forever broken xx

I am so sorry to hear the news about your husband. It was good that he passed away peacefully, and that this was made possible by the support of the palliative care team. And that you had such closeness at the end of his life.

No doubt this is a difficult start to your year, and it will take time to adjust to life in a different way, and grieve for him. It is wonderful to have had such long years together, but it makes it very hard afterwards, I am sure.

On behalf of the nurses here, we would like to extend our deepest sympathies at this sad time.
