I have been suffering from very itchy / irritated skin? Does anyone have any suggestions of any good creams? Thanks for the help!

Hi Josh,

I think it depends on what is causing the itching. I understand that people with liver failure find washing with good old coal tar soap brings relief. Marmalade

After trying various creams (over the counter and prescription) my husband found best relief

from baby oil. Hope this helps.

Hi there,

I too have suffered from the itchy skin syndrome. Firstly I have moved away from bio washing powders and found that to help. I have experienced relief from many non perfumed emolument creams such as neoderm, even good old vaseline with water first can help but can be a bit dampening applying it, also a district nurse gave me "Proshield Plus"which is a barrier type cream and this has help in localised areas. In the market place "Simple" and vaseline moisturising lotion/cream have helped me.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your enquiry.

Some very helpful answers there already.

Would agree, very simple creams should help - for example, Aqueous cream, which you can get on prescription, or can also buy over the counter. Or, E45 also? Have you tried any of these?

Bicarbonate of soda in the bath is also good.

Also, are you taking any anti-histamine at all for the itching?

Kind regards,

Thanks everyone for the replies! Some very useful information :D I think I will try the baby oil and E45. I also found for those interested some bath salts that apparently have worked well for people with itchy skin on a website called Live Better With. They are called: Aveeno Soothing Bath Treatment. Thanks again Josh.

I went through practically everything on the market to get something to help for my guy, and the best remedies for us were showering using Sanex for sensitive skin and then a product called Magicool Plus for Itchy Skin. (It's a spray) Some pharmacies sell it but using Amazon was more convenient for us.

It was the only thing that worked for Peter, he showered twice a day and sometimes during the night and used the spray afterwards. He said the jaundice itch was the most awful thing he'd ever experienced !

Good luck
