Veema Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 So...just putting this out there and I know I'm probably just clutching at straws, but my husband has been to the doctors today with a sore throat...turns out it's thrush...he's got some tablets and whilst reading the leaflet that came with them, I come across something that states you can have thrush (candida) in the lungs...so I now google this and there are some CT scans on google that show lungs with candida and they have multiple small spots!!! Is this something worth mentioning to the oncologist or am I being really ridiculous???
Dandygal76 Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 There is nothing ridiculous about hoping for different outcomes or in mentioning things to the oncologist. You never know until you ask. Fingers crossed that it is not the cancer. Incidentally, my dad was told he had grainy sand like appearance that needed monitoring but looked like it may be infection. I then sent the scans to Prof Nanoknife and he confirmed. I am still a bit nervous for the next scan though... we do not like anything new popping up at scan time do we. x
Veema Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 I've left a message with the specialist nurse. He's had a rash on his face for ages now, which they have been saying is because of the sun, but now he's got the thrush in the throat, I've looked online and the rash looks like a fungal rash too.
Veema Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 I spoke to the nurse this morning...she's going to look into it and mention it to the oncologist...I don't know how they can find out, but at least I've not been fobbed off.
Proud Wife Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Oral thrush can be hard to treat, if the drops don't work, ask for tablets. They worked within 48 hours for hubby. xx
Veema Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 He's got tablets...I'm more bothered about the fact that he's been diagnosed with lung mets when it could just be a fungal infection.
Dandygal76 Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Hopefully if it is Thrush though Veema then the tablets will help and the 'lung mets' would reduce on the next scan. It is great the nurse will look into it for you. I hope you are all doing okay in general. x
Veema Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 Nurse has spoken to consultant who says it's not fungal. Oh well.I'm okay...just got that feeling of impending doom.
