metal stent

Has anyone any experience of a blocked metal stent. Biliary stent? (with sludge). What can be done to unblock it please?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

My husband had a metal stent and thought it was blocked at one point, turned out not to be but I believe if it does become blocked it can be replaced, usually by the same method. My husband had his percutaneously ie through the skin. It's not uncommon for stents to become blocked.

Hope someone who has more knowledge can answer your question more fully, or try ringing one of the specialists nurses here. It will have to wait until Tuesday though as they work office hours and it's Bank Holiday too.
