Hi

I am totally new to this forum but feel the need to hear from other people outside the family.

Nearly 4 weeks ago I was diagnosed with a malignant tumour in the pancreas after having a CT scan.

I have no idea what size/stage it is as when I was asked if there were any questions.....I froze!

Since then I have been to x for a EUS? And have had a full body MRI scan.

Today is MDT are meeting....and Monday I have an appointment with the oncologist.

I am absolutely terrified...and am wondering what questions I need to ask.

I am 63 and look after my 38 year old son who has learning disabilities.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Welcome to the forum Kaye. So sorry to hear of your diagnosis but I am sure you'll find this site supportive and informative.

There is a list of questions on this site -

My Dad printed off the questions relevant to his diagnosis and took it to the first meeting with the Consultant. The Registrar saw he had a list and took the paper off Dad and wrote down the answers whilst Dad was talking to the Consultant. Dad found it very useful to have written answers as he could refer to the paper when he got home and found he hadn't forgotten anything. Good luck with your appointment on Monday and let us know how you get on.

Hi Kaye,

Welcome to the forum, I am sure you will gets lots of help and support from my fellow posters, William's reply will certainly have helped you.

The standard advice I think we would all give is, always chase up appointments, you are not being a nuisance and if you are so what!!, ask questions, but of course be prepared for the answer, and don't be afraid to ask for a second oppinion, but most of all stay positive. It is a dreadful disease but lots of people are doing really well.

Keep posting and we will be here to help support you on your journey,

take care sandrax

Thankyou both for your advice.

I'm taking my husband and my eldest son with me, but writing the questions down will certainly help.

Will let you know how it goes.
