This is my first post but have been reading through forum's for a few weeks.my mum was diagnosed with pc 3 weeks ago. She has a 4cm tumour at the head the pancreas. The doctor has told us this is inoperable. Mum is 81 and also suffers with c o p d. She has had a stent fitted which has helped clear the jaundice. After the Mdt we went to see a specialist nurse at the hospital to get results from biopsy. The result of this was negative but was told this usually happens. Mum is feeling ok at the moment, she has a little bit of back ache and feels the odd niggle in her stomach. I don't really know what to expect but we were told her life expectancy is not long. It seems hard to believe when I see her as she looks fine. Reading the post on here has made me realise we are not on our own.

Welcome to the forum Bev, the place where although every one is lovely no one wants to be here. So sorry to hear about your mum, its good she is feeling ok at the moment, you need to get in touch with Macmillan, to get help put in place should or when you need it. The nurses on here are very knowledgeable and very supportive and helpful. You are certainly not alone, take care sandrax

Hi Bev,

So sorry to hear about your Mum's Diagnosis. I am glad her jaundice is clearing my Dad felt a lot better after bilirubin levels had reduced. My dad had a negative result for his biopsy too. (Dad a very fit 83 year old was diagnosed in Jan)

As Sandra says get in touch with the MacMillan nurses you might have to do this through a GP referral. Also the nurses on here are wonderful and will give you lots of useful advice.

Take care

For the last couple of weeks my mum has been very shakey. Is this one of the symptoms? She takes thyroxine daily for interactive thyroid and different inhalers for copd. I thought the shaking may be to do with this medication but her GP says it's not.

Hi Bev,

Have you checked her temperature?

When people have a high temperature, they can shiver and shake, and it could be a sign of infection.

Do email us at support@pancreaticcancer.org.uk if you need further information.
