Essex Pancreatic Cancer Support Network

I'd like to make everyone aware that I have helped set up a new group in Essex for anyone affected by Pancreatic cancer in some way - either having been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer themselves or as a relative, friend, spouse or partner of someone with pancreatic cancer.

We're meeting for a chat over coffee and a cake in Chelmsford this coming Saturday 25th April and we would welcome anyone who would like to come along. Please pass this on to anyone you know who might be interested and ask them to contact us through the Essex Pancreatic Cancer Support Network Facebook page or by emailing EssexPancreas@gmail.com for details.

Many thanks.

Hi Robert I was living in Colchester when diagnosed and so wished for some group/someone to talk to who was going through the same nightmare that I was/am. There wasn't anything, so I'm so pleased that support groups are now popping up and welcome them with open arms. I now live in Nottinghamshire so unfortunately won't be able to attend the one in Chelmsford but hope people take advantage of the support offered.

Hi Sue,

Thanks for your comments. I know I've benefitted hugely from being able to speak to others who have gone through the same thing. I think you still qualify if you want to join our Facebook group (we wouldn't turn anyone away really no matter where they live!)

I hope all is going well for you.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your post, and well done on setting up a support group. We often have people who contact us via the support line asking about local groups, so we would be happy to direct any one in your local area to yours. We are also more than happy to come along occasionally if you wish for one of us to say hi and give a brief discussion about any topics that may be helpful, ie nutrition, enzymes, symptom managment or daily life as a patient or carer, so please do let us know if we can help.

Goodluck with your group and hopefully we will be out your way some time soon.

Best wishes,

Dianne

Hi Everyone,

The next meeting of our Essex Pancreatic Support Network is on Saturday 29th August at 2pm in Romford. We're meeting at the Costa Coffee at The Brewery car park and would love to see some new faces there. It's all very informal and patients, carers, family or anyone else who has an interest in pancreatic cancer and its treatment is most welcome. We currently have a core of three members and hope we can encourage some new faces as we're running out of things to say to each other!

You can email EssexPancreas@gmail.com for more information or visit our Facebook Group -- Essex Pancreatic Cancer Support Network. It's a private / closed group for confidentiality reasons but just ask to join and you'll be in.

We're desperate to see some new members so if it sounds OK to you but there are some obstacles to coming along such as location, please let me know. We're very happy to have our next meeting in a more convenient place for those who want to attend.

Please do try to come along or at least join our Facebook group where you can keep in touch with us and even have an input into future events.

Hope to hear from some of you soon.
