Thoracic, abdominal and pelvic CT Scan

Hi all,

I recently had these results back from a diagnostic CT Scan,

Examination Title:

CT Chest, Abdomen and Pelvis

Clinical History:

Symptoms of lower chest and abdominal pain without any significant cause.

Findings:

Normal lung parenchyma with no masses, nodules or areas of opacification.

Pleural spaces are clear.

Normal proximal airways.

No enlarged supraclavicular, axillary or mediastinal lymph nodes.

No pericardial effusion.

Liver is of normal size with no focal defect.

Normal gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, adrenals and kidneys.

The large bowel has a normal appearance.

Normal appendix identified separately. Normal small bowel.

No free fluid.

No enlarged abdominal or pelvic lymph nodes.

No bony abnormality.

Conclusion:

No thoracic, abdominal or pelvic abnormality. No cause found for this patient's symptoms.

From these results should I take it that I don't have PC or any metastasises?

If anyone with experience could shine some light on the above, I'd be incredibly grateful.

Thank you

Bert

PCUK Nurse Dianne

Good afternoon Bert,

Thank you for posting on the forum. I am sure this may have been an anxious time for you if you have had some symptoms that necessitated you having a CT scan. The results you have shared above, do suggest that there is no evidence of PC or any metastases.

If you are struggling with some symptoms and need further clarification, or any other concerns, please do not hesitate to be in touch with us on this support service. We would be happy to talk through this if it may be helpful.

I hope these results are reassuring for you at this time Bert.

With kind regards,

Dianne

Hi Diane,

Thank you for such a quick reply.

I've had symptoms since April (dull upper left quadrant pain, mid back pain, dysphagia and eventual heartburn) that I initially attributed to a lockdown health kick (lots of sit ups!) which came on and have lingered ever since.

I had an abdominal ultrasound 6 weeks ago that revealed a bit of a fatty liver and borderline thickened gallbladder. Pancreas obscured by bowel gas. Started Googling. Panic stations.

Paid for the CT Scan as the NHS have kept cancelling my consultant clinics.

Received the results today which have been a massive relief but soon after started worrying that maybe a CT of Chest, Abdomen and Pelvis is too general and that I should have had a CT with Pancreatic Protocol for a more detailed diagnosis?

Could I ask your opinion on this? Is there any way PC wouldn't show up on the test I received? Would Mets show on my scan?
