hi everyone, just to say that our visit to the specialist today was very positive, there has been NO changes shown on his scan of last week, so we have an appointment for three months time, preceded by a further scan , this is. of course the absolute best we could of hoped for and i am so relieved, but feel sort of strange, cant explain it.!!

have sat reading on here for an hour, wanting to post, not quite knowing what to say, cos i feel so bad about all the sadness of others on here, please remember my thoughts are with each and every one of you.

I'm so pleased for you both Laura....but I know where you are coming from, there have been times where I've almost felt guilty about having positive news when so many are facing heartache. Remember, though, that this board reflects life - both positive and negative news is important and when we can be positive it helps to give hope to others, particularly new patients and their carers/loved ones. So, keep posting those results. We waxnt to help you celebrate them.

I agree it is so good to hear some good news and gives others like me the hope that good things can happen and it's not all doom and gloom.

So pleased for you both And make the most of this good news and enjoy life.

Ah Laura that is just brillant, im so happy for you both!! I think it is so important to hear the positive stories too, I remember searching the internet about PC when dad was just diagnosed, and it was these positive stories that gave me, mum and dad the hope and strength to deal with it. Although unfortunalty as I type this, my dad is on his way to hospital. He has taken a cold but this past two nights has taken a bout of shivers lasting 30-45min, developed a cough, not eating and low temp. So they want to check him over. It seems like an infection and may need an antibotic. So hopefully we get him sorted and back on his feet soon. Will know more in a while.

He has a infection so they are keeping him in for approx 5 days. He is not too happy but he is in the right place and getting good care! If he had his way he would have suffered all weekend and god knows what situation he would be in. We just had to over rule him this time.

Laura hope you and Bri have a great weekend and enjoy that nice mild weather (thats if its anything like here in N.Ireland)

Laura,

Absolutely brilliant news!!! Just brill!

From a clinical point of view, I know the significance of these kind of consultations, so I am really delighted with the news!! I am very pleased for both of you. Brian must be over the moon!

Well done to both of you for your positive attitude, and for supporting others as you do. Always be ready to share good news Laura! There may be very little good news at times, so very welcome.

Enjoy your weekend, and celebrate together!

hi everyone, and thankyou for all your good wishes to us , i really do appreciate them,

rachel, sorry to hear about dad, tis a nuisance when infections get hold, under normal circumstances he would probably been ok, the chemo can lower resistance to things like this, so as you say, hes in the best place.

one thing i will share with you, when bri was in for similar problem, his tablets were given at "round time" this included creon which he needed at mealtimes, not two hours after,! they seemed unable to co-ordinate this, [he was in acute assesment, where they deal with all admittances,] as they didnt understand the way creon worked? so if dads taking creon you might need to see whats happeneing,

other than that he was cared for very well. bri also suffered a lot with bouts of shivering, then he really had bad sweats after, next morning seemed as right as rain!

so hope he goes on well thru this "blip"

thanks once again for all your good wishes. and mine go out to all of you on here.

Very good point about the creon Laura, and you are not the first person to communicate this news to us.

One way to counteract this is to self - medicate when in hospital, especially for things such as creon. It is not great that something as basic as this can't be coordinated. It does enhance the persons quality of life when Creon is given properly.

Hopefulwife

Hi Laura and Bri,

Just signed in to the Forum to see how everyone is getting on and so delighted to read how well Bri is doing. You must be over the moon both of you. It really is great to hear of a success story - long may it last. Hope you are both enjoying the Jubilee celebrations, if not the weather!

I am keeping busy - the boys and one girlfriend are still living with me - they are a Godsend providing me with company and their future to get involved with. I am playing lots of golf and tennis and having - believe it or not - a conservatory built on the house - something Steve was always against, but I have always wanted. I have learnt that there's no point in putting off till tomorrow what you can do today. You never know what's round the corner, so I am treating myself. It's really only a distraction from the reality of what has happened to Steve. I still find it hard to believe he's gone.

PC seems to be more common than I had ever imagined. Two weeks ago I was at a tennis fundraiser for PC and met a lady who's step-daughter had died of it aged 24, and the organiser's husband's backpain was early PC, and he died within 7 weeks. Then a golf friend's Mum was diagnosed very late with pc a month ago and when I saw her two weeks ago I told her the most important thing for her was to talk about everything and anything whilst she could. Her Mum passed away last week, so I hope my words helped.

So - Laura, it makes it even more special to hear about Bri. May he continue to keep on top of it all.

Love to you and any others who read my post.

hi, rachel, diane, ali, and all my other friends on here, today we went to our oncology app, i am delighted to report that bri's scan shows no change, so that really is the best news we could have hoped for, we can now relax a bit and look forward to a cruise in nov, that we have booked with friends we made at chemo 27 months ago. seems such a long time ago we met them, feel like weve known them forever.

my love and thoughts to all of you on here, wherever you may be on your journey

I have been using this forum to find some hope that someone I love very much may just have more than the 1-6 months that a number of Dr's have suggested. Your's is the one I keep returning to and this post makes my heart lift (just a tiny bit) for the situation we are faced with. For you and Bri (strange how I feel I know you ) my heart leaps - I am so pleased for you both. Thank you for sharing.
