Mum's diagnosis

Recommended Posts

Oh Sue. I really feel your heart ache. Like with my Dad with diarrhoea, just so frustrating. Someone must know.

I wish more than anything that her mood picks up. I really wish I could help or do something. What pills is your mum on?

Sue,

Sorry to hear your mum is still feeling so down, but if she feels so unwell she will do.

Its all just so difficult, at least if the palliative nurse is nice, she might be able to give your mum some support, and hopefully the increased meds will help.

Its good that the scan didn't show anything scary, but that's still not helping your mum actually feel better is it. This bloody disease is just relentless, thinking of you sandrax

Yes, Leila, this does remind me of your dad and his diarrhoea when nobody could tell you or him what was causing it. Sue, I do hope you get to find out what it is and get some progress for your mum. xx

Morning Sue, up early before I teach - I love the calmness when my 3 children, husband and 2 dogs are fast asleep!! I always have a special thought about my mum. Last mother's day was the last time my children saw her - she died a few weeks later. She will always be with me.

I do read your posts, I don't write much anymore. I wrote a lot after she just died. The love for your mum shines through, I am so sorry she feels poorly at the mo - I am sure she will pick up again.

Treasure her and stay strong, you are doing a remarkable job.

Lots of love Cate.

Thankyou everyone you are all so lovely.

Mum hasn't seen any other specialists she sId to me yesterday that she's been scanned, had loads of blood taken and been in hospital but no one knows!

Sandra you are right it is relentless! If she isn't helped soon she will be anorexic and that will finish her off!

Thankyou Cate it's always lovely to hear from you. You sound busy! My youngest daughter has just been offered a pgce in a secondary school near us she finishes uni this summer.

Let's see what today brings! Sue x

Not really sure what else I can do nobody seems to beable to help! Maybe they just think it's pancreatic cancer so this is the way it is! Spoke to pallative nurse today and Dr they think she's constipated and her digestive system needs to move! More tablets, more laxatives! She just keeps being sick!

Not really sure who else to talk to now I've tried and tried!

My youngest daughter just cried when she saw her nan today it was so sad! I would do anything to find someone who could help her but nobody seems able to! I won't give up I will just keep ringing the Dr's !

My poor Mum . Sorry for the rant! Just sitting here crying I feel so useless!

Sue,

I hope you don't mind but I emailed Dad's gastroeinterolgist today and told him your mums symptoms. He has suggested it could be something, but basically said not to say as she needs to be seen by a specialist.

Mum's GP could offer an emergency appointment with one possibly?

Sorry for interferring, but you just remind me of me and I can hear your desperation and I just needed to help.

Thanks Leila Mum went to GP today and then I asked him to ring me which he did a short while ago! I asked him if she could see a specialist but he wants to see if her bowels will empty properly first! I explained everything to him but they just don't understand! They just think this is the Cancer doing its thing! Basically he said the tumour has messed up her whole digestive system! Sue x

Do you want me to tell you what the Gastro man said, and you can perhaps Google it and see if it looks familiar?

Maybe the oncologist could refer her, it was him that referred my Dad. I called the secretary and got in within a week I think.

Gastroparesis. It is just something that came to his mind, he's not diagnosing as obviously he hasn't seen her. He told me to tell you to try and find a Gastroeinterologist.

Sue,

Please don't put yourself down, you are doing everything you can for your mum, but I can well understand your utter frustration, I honestly am unable to give you any advice, wish I could be more helpful, I think Leila's idea about talking to the nurses would be a really good idea, they were so helpful when I spoke to them. take care love sandrax xx

Thankyou Leila and Sandra I've calmed down now! She is only eating soup and yoghurt and has those high calorie drinks! If she keeps being sick she isn't getting any goodness from anything!

I think I am tired which doesn't help! My daughter crying upset me as well! We have so many things to look forward to my daughters 21st, graduation and my elder daughters wedding in August! My mum loved life and always joined in with everything. She is looking forward to the wedding so much that it just makes me feel heartbroken!

Oh well onwards and upwards tomorrow is a new day!

Thankyou for your understanding it is greatly appreciated. Sue xxx

Keeping reminding your mum of those special occasion. She needs to focus on them, to get her strength from them.

I hate reading when people are so down, i can truly feel how you feel. I care so much about everyone on here.

Hope you can get your mum referred to see someone soon and I so hope they can help her. How about porridge, would that be too much?

Yesterday was a very emotional day. Me and Mum just hugged and she said to me she has to get better for her granddaughters wedding in August! Heartbreaking or what! Everyone was crying , my daughters, my sister in law and me! Not good but maybe it had to all come out!

Mum is still being sick and has diaorrhea! She is so weak now! The pallative nurse is coming out tomorrow! How can they just let her sit in a chair all day and be sick every time she eats? No one seems to be helping.

My DR has signed me off until the end of the month so I can concentrate on my mum without thinking about work. I can't concentrate at work and I don't want to be there!

I can't believe it's come to this when she was given a 2 month chemo break, to build her up, only a few weeks ago!

I am shocked and saddened that no one knows what to do but I'm hoping the nurse will have some ideas tomorrow.

Love to you all let's try and all remain strong. Love Sue x

Big hugs, my dad was sick mostly at night but then in the day too, he was in hospital and they kept forgetting to give him his antisickness meds,my only regret is not pushing it more with the nurses, Dr's as they could have given him a constant antisickness. it must be so horrible being sick and so tiring. Maybe worth asking re antisickness. Stay strong.X and

Thankyou Rob I hope so as well. She is on anti sickness medication but they think her body isn't absorbing it! Today the pallative nurse rang me at home and said they were putting a syringe driver in to help her! She asked me to collect the prescription and then collect the medication! I agreed but what a nightmare 3 chemists later and each one said it had to be ordered! I was so stressed I rang the Dr and they kindly said they would sort it out but to take the paperwork to my Mum's. When I got there I had a phone call asking me to go to another chemist who had the prescription so off I went! Finally the nurse arrived and when she looked at the paperwork the Dr had written the forms the wrong way round. They couldn't set it up until it was right! Off I went to the Dr's where I had to wait over half an hour for him to alter the forms and then back to Mum's where the nurse was waiting! I think I was close to tears but held it together!

I really don't think this should have been my job to do all this.

Anyway they are trying the syringe driver for 48 hours and if there is no improvement she will go into the hospice for intervention!

I don't really know what to think! Is this the beginning of the end? I'm not giving up I will keep fighting for her!

Love from a very stressed Sue xxx

sue poor you, you shouldn't have to have done all that, being honest and I'm sorry if it is too honest. My dad's chemo finished he had 2 months free then he started being sick, the scan showed that the evil cancer had spread into his stomach, I hope that's not the case for your mum. We all fought until the bitter end like we all do. Big hugs and to your mum,and sorry if this upsets you not my intention but I handled the honest approach better.x

Thankyou she is a fighter but it's become suddenly and ferociously hard for her! She had a scan in hospital a couple of weeks ago and they said there was no change! I don't mind the honest approach! I'm under no illusions!

At least I don't have to go to work so that's a weight off my mind!

I will fight with her to the very end I hate this Cancer!

Sue, poor you, what a mess, you are right, you shouldn't have had to do all that chasing around, but at least you got the medication for your Mum, lets hope it helps her to feel better soon. She really has had an awful time of it lately, when she was supposed to be getting built back up ready for more treatment, she has been so poorly. This truly is a horrible cancer, it seems to come at them from all sides, that's all we can do. keep fighting. take care sandrax xx
