Re: The longest days but there gone so fast

Jools, I am thinking of you both. Please try and look after yourself too. It's very easy to get run down yourself (listen to me talk! Everyone says the same to me as well!). We need to stay strong physically and mentally throughout this terrible ordeal with the support of family, friends and the med...

Re: Another 'newbie'

You are in my thoughts as you struggle to cope with your dad's condition. It is a difficult path to follow as this terrible disease keeps changing tactics to fool the healthcare team. Caryy on being the loving, caring supportive daughter that you obviously are. That alone is worth sooo much to your ...

Re: 24/7 its non stop since diagnosis

Dear Jools, try to take some comfort, if you can, from the fact that he is not in pain. My heart is there with you as I know we are not far behind you on this terrible journey that none of us wanted to make. Your strength and courage has been, and still is, an inspiration to us all. Stay strong Jool...

Re: No bed available at hospital for gastric bypass!!!

Got to hospital in time for evening visiting. She was totally exhausted, sitting in the chair and had to get back into bed and slept for an hour. Was a little more lively when she woke, but I was only there another 15 minutes - which I think was enough for her. (I am happy just to sit there while sh...

Re: No bed available at hospital for gastric bypass!!!

Chemo didn't happen on Weds following bloods results. Oncologist feels that it will not be restarted. Admitted to hospital with dehydration again. Small improvement after 24 hours on saline drip. Syringe driver still in place. Increased anti emetics dose. Still in hospital. Was there on Weds all day...

Re: No bed available at hospital for gastric bypass!!!

Thanks Sue and Dianne for the useful advice. Just spoken to Andrea. She is so very weak and tired. It's an effort for her even to speak. Her voice has changed. Syringe driver in place for the steroids now. Anti emetics continue to be given via the butterfly on her abdomen. She was called at 10 p.m. ...

Re: No bed available at hospital for gastric bypass!!!

Hi Sue and Deb. It was lovely to be together again at the weekend. I was able to stay till about 10 this morning before I had to drive back. The Marie Curie nurses covered for the district nurses on Saturday and Sunday evening. They were great and have been liaising with the DN's regarding the antie...

Re: Living day by day

Dear Sue, you are in my thoughts so many times a day. I have experienced loss several times in my life and have always found it so hard to cope with. I heard bits of the Jeremy Vine show today when they were discussing the loss of a spouse and how different people cope. I think I will go online and ...

Re: No bed available at hospital for gastric bypass!!!

Hi folks Not long now till I can get back up there! Today Andrea had her oncologist appointment. Her lovely friend who is staying this week took her. The oncologist is going to go ahead with chemo, despite the fact that she still has some sickness. He commented that it is rare to eradicate sickness ...

Re: Another 'newbie'

Hi Lulu
I have been thinking of you since I read your first post. How did the chemo go? I have just found out today that my wife is going to have chemo as well. Let us know how your dad is getting on. Don't forget to take care of yourself too.
Hugs,
Paul
