Re: Mum's diagnosis
Thanks everyone Mum is eating chocolate again! We had a deterioration yesterday as the DR's feel she is unsafe to get out of bed at all. The tops of her legs are so heavy with fluid! This has really upset her and the indignity of toilet issues. She has pads on the bed and has to go on them! My Mum c...

Re: Mum's diagnosis
Thankyou everyone I know you all understand! Mum is still the same although a little subdued since the DR's want to send her home! She wants to stay in the hospice. They took a set of bloods today to see what is going on with the fluid in her stomach and to check liver and kidney function! I can't s...

Re: frustrated
Hi Sheena I can really sympathise as so much you are going through is what I've been through with Mum! Mum's sugar levels are up and down and hard to stabilise! I have had a community pallative nurse and she has been a godsend so keep asking for one. They are very supportive and knowledgeable! Ask t...

Well the last couple of days have been bittersweet and trying to say the least! Mum is quite stable in the hospice now even though she has a lot going on with different symptoms and problems and things could change again! The hospice are saying they can't just keep someone there who is stable indefi...

Re: Mum's diagnosis
Hi Leila, Mum is still much the same! Eating a little and talking occasionally. Her eyes are closed most of the time and I'm not sure if she is sleeping or just prefers it that way. She does sleep a lot though! It is a strange time as we go in sit with her every day and she seems comfortable and pea...

Re: Mum's diagnosis
Quick update! Mum is stable at the moment eating a little and still enjoying a cup of tea! She is fragile and still on oxygen. She sleeps most of the time but does respond when you talk to her. We have got through Christmas Day now I am praying nothing happens on New Years Day! This is hard very har...

Re: Mum's diagnosis
Quick update while I'm sitting with Mum in the hospice. Mum is comfortable and not in pain we had a fairly ok Christmas Day! Opened presents with her in the morning. She managed to eat some Christmas dinner. Yesterday and today Mum has mainly slept only talking when you ask her something. She isn't ...

Re: Mum's diagnosis
Yesterday had a call saying they were planning on getting Mum home today with a care package! Went into the hospital at 3p.m and took one look at her and knew something was seriously wrong! She was grey and couldn't breathe properly! Called the nurse who said she had been fine! At this point everyon...

Re: Mum's diagnosis
Thankyou Leila and Sandra for your messages. Mum was slightly better yesterday afternoon. Her blood sugar was back within normal range and the antibiotics seemed to be kicking in! They have managed to stop the vomiting and she has a syringe driver with anti sickness drugs. Still has an awful cough! ...

Re: Mum's diagnosis
Mum has been admitted to hospital this afternoon. She has a terrible cough which the DR thinks may be pneumonia and she is being sick! Bringing up brown/yellow bile! She actually said to me she doesn't want to be here anymore! Her wishes are to go to the hospice if they can't treat her! Tough times,...

Re: Mum's diagnosis
Thankyou everyone I am glad you are all there! Mum is much the same and it is her wishes to stay at home as long as she can and then go to the hospice. We have a wonderful hospice community nurse and district nurses. You are right Leila the DR's need some education!
