Re: Overwhelmed - husband diagnosed, in hospital - decisions

Hi Larrybee. So sorry you are in this position that we are all so familiar with from whichever angle we are coming from! I would echo others in that you cannot really make decisions until you know what you are dealing with. There is no 'answer' as to whether surgery, if an option would be 'worth it'...

Re: Carls story

Thanks Sarah, that was most interesting! Unfortunately we would have to pay privately for the nanoknife and can't see how that could be done unless we can do some serious fundraising. And Carl, I am with you on the holistic approach too - anything which helps the body to cope at the very least can't...

Re: Pancreatic Cancer Action Campaign

I think it's a great ad and so true, like many we thought the same, if only it had been one with a great chance of survival! It needs to stir up more controversy - have shared on Facebook and made no apologies for it. Nobody would have even given it a glance without the outraged caused in some quart...

Re: Important to be VERY PUSHY

My bf was prescribed D3 supplements by his herbalist who is used to helping cancer patients. As always you have to do a lot of the work yourself to get what you think is necessary.

Re: waiting for diagnosis

Glad that you got good news. Always worth getting second opinion as to options I would have thought but sounds like no treatment is advised at the moment. Keep alert though and thanks for thinking of us now and in the future.

Re: Chemo for symptom reduction?

Just had the result of the scan and it is clear and weight was the same as last week so the weight loss seems to have halted again. Now totally baffled as the feeling of fullness and not being able to eat much are the symptoms we started with before diagnosis! So we are continuing with the chemo. Bu...

Re: Devastated

I am so sorry to hear this. I am afraid a lot of us are plagued with 'what ifs' - in my bf's case the first big one was how come the GP didn't diagnose it months ago or even a year ago when all us lay people diagnosed it with one google! I will be thinking of you xxx

Chemo for symptom reduction?

I think we are about to enter the phase where we have to have to consider the next step. Bf operated in Oct and started chemo before Christmas but he had to stop for 3 weeks after 2 doses because of infection. During that time cancer symptoms have returned which is especially annoying as before chem...

Re: Missing my Clint so much

I can only say, having been left a widow in my 30s 25 years ago with 3 children under the age of 6, that I got through it by talking to him whenever I wanted to, concentrating on my children and spending time with good friends regularly, even when I didn't feel like it. Gradually new happy memories ...

Re: My hero, lover and best friend gone..

Dear Cathy I am so sorry. I have been reading your posts since starting on this forum a few weeks ago. I am going down this route again with my new partner (in his 40s) as my husband died of cancer 25 years ago (in his 30s). I thought I'd be strong second time around but I'm falling apart with all t...

Re: My Mother

Hello Justin I have quite a lot of experience with Gerson as my husband did it for the last 3 months of his life with advanced kidney cancer. It didn't cure him but he had virtually no pain in spite of extensive bone tumours. Was it worth it? I don't think so because Gerson is enormously time-consum...

Thanks, Nikki. Yes he is. Hopefully he won't be getting infections every time or we'll never get through it!

Re: Just checking in

Thanks everyone. We spent all night Monday in A and E due to a rash which looked like septicaemia but turned out to be caused by low blood platelets. I suppose we are still new to all this and it will be a steep learning curve in the months to come. He has no spleen since op so is more prone to infe...

Just checking in

Hello Everyone. Have been reading your posts a bit more recently and it's nice to know there are people to contact who can offer support. My bf was diagnosed at the end of Sep, operated on end of Oct and has just started gemcitabine but has to have a break after only two doses due to an infection. G...
