Re: Carls story

Wow, such amazing news. Still a 'fun' ride with chemo symptoms, but that's one heck of an anti-emetic - or an "I know I'm chucking up for a good reason now" medicine. One thing from our experience - Emend anti-emetic. It's something new, given as a pre/post procedure drug, or for more severe symptom...

Re: Abraxane -our experiences so far

Thank you for the updated Nikki, I've been thinking of you. The step forward with eating can't be underestimated I think, especially with the family.

So pleased. XXX S

Re: Chemo for symptom reduction?

Just to chuck something in. My mum asked about PIP and as she gets a pension she was told she couldn't have it. She was given some form to do with carers allowance. We took that at face value. Seems hard given many sufferers are over 65. My info could well be poor, so don't rely on it! I hope you ge...

Re: Honey!

Good to share hon - no pun intended. The retail therapy is familiar. When getting a medical degree and curing cancer isn't an option anything you can get/do that helps, helps.

Take care!

Re: David

Oh heck. I'm so sad. David and his furryfox really helped Mum and I. Your really increadibly brave and uplifting post makes a difference, just sad I didn't put 2 and 2 together and realise this was DavidandSam David at first. Thinking of you all. He seemed to be a man that engendered and gave massiv...

Re: Dad deteriorating - advice please!

Good for you! Do that. They know how horrific this is for family as well as patients, so while taking the practical details down, they will also know the psychological impact waiting will have. Being a daughter is hard. Dad's don't accept a role reversal very easily sometimes, but if you have a prof...

Re: Dad deteriorating - advice please!

Sorry you're going through this. Please give the oncology nurses at your local hospital a call or failing that get your GP out. Despite some bad freedback, both services in our area have been great when circumstances have changed. The Acute oncology number is where I would start in your situation, t...

Cysts, soreness and CRT

Thanks Emma, We had a good meet with her oncologist today. He showed us the "bile build up" on a scan from Jan. We realised it was what other doctors had called a cyst, the one that stopped the prof doing what he wanted to cos it was slap bang in front of the tumour. Our doc now has 2 and 2 put toge...

Link to Mum's story on-line for Saatchi Bill and Maggie Watt

Thank you all for your kind wishes. The below is copied from my post on the Saatchi Bill thread as I'm seeing double from lack of sleep and kind of deals with that and a general update. Thank you for your post on the Saatchi Bill thread Steve. The frustration comes through in spades, and mirrors min...

Re: CRT Starts Monday

After staring at the Capecitabine tabs for about an hour and a half, she finally plucked up courage to take the first batch. The RT it's self went ok, but that's a more subtly cumulative thing. I don't want her to suffer and have reminded her she can quit any time. If she does, perhaps our wunderkin...

Re: CRT Starts Monday

Thanks to all of you. I actually spent the night with her last night and she brushed off any suggestion that i hadn't been doing my bit. Actually repeated what you guys said-she would have called if she needed me. Also had some sensible feedback on why her stomach has been behaving badly and being s...

Re: CRT Starts Monday

Hi all, apart from the Saatchi Bill posts I know I've been a bit elusive. Sorry to anyone I should have been in touch with and haven't (Sara, especially you after your kind offer). This might come as a surprise, but I've seen little of Mum in the last 3 weeks. I've found it exceptionally hard to be ...

Re: Carls story

Ditto for Carole's words. You saw my posts, so wont go on. Thinking of you and fingers crossed his recovery is bearable. One thing is to never refuse pain relief when in pain and take stuff prophylactically in the first few days. Teaching you to suck eggs here I know, but if he's anything like my Mu...
