Re: Pancreas pain

Paul's platelets were always abnormally high due to the gemcitabine, it is just so strange how it can affect everyone so differently. Mac Donald's and sweets sound a good option for keeping weight on, perhaps with healthy options as well to keep you both happy?! Really hope the ablation is an option...

Re: Pancreas pain

Hi Didge, I know what you mean about him realising what you have been living with for the past 18 months, and Paul, like Sandra's Trevor was also convinced he would be cured, but I guess if that is what has kept them going it can only be a good thing. Even now Paul is asking the hospice Doctors abou...

Re: So far so good!

My first choice round there is the Grange Fitzrovia, usually good value. You can get good deals on the Manderville, which is really lovely. For very cheap and cheerful there is the Travelodge, Marylebone, and the Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes just round the corner, is supposed to be good but I haven't ...

Re: Abraxane -our experiences so far

Hi, Just a quick note to say Paul is now in the hospice, 10 minutes from home. I have been in London with him for the last fortnight, which has been incredibly hard as it is 2 hours from home and our girls. He felt happy for me to come home to sleep tonight, so I am appreciating sitting in my own be...

Re: Abraxane -our experiences so far

Sorry folks, but as you all know I am sure, you have to be in the right frame of mind to put things down sometimes. Anyway we are still in London. They failed to unblock the duodenal stent and then they did plan to do a venting PEG, which means a tube from his stomach out to his skin, that would mea...

Re: Abraxane -our experiences so far

Hi Leila, Sorry to hear your Dad is so down at the moment. Paul is still in hospital. The duodenal stent is blocked but they are going to try and unblock it tomorrow. We are nearing the end now, but if he could eat and drink a little without being sick, he would be more comfortable. He actually feel...

Re: Abraxane -our experiences so far

Thanks Wacky,
They did say they would try again next week, but we have said no, we just want to get home and if he is feeling stronger in a week or two we might try again.

Re: Abraxane -our experiences so far

Hi all, Well, they put the duodenal stent in yesterday. That went fine, they couldn't get the biliary stent in though as there was too much constriction, so he still has an external drain. They have said there are some tumour in the bowel but no large mass. We saw the second oncologist who was great...

Re: Duodenal Stent

Hi Kerri,
My husband had a stent only yesterday, so I don't know how it will be yet I'm afraid. Is your mum following the advice about having soft wet foods? There is some guidance on this site,
Hope things improve,
Nikki
