Re: Abraxane -our experiences so far

I know Jayne, it is all spot on isn't it? I believe these quotes about loss were about Christopher Robin going away to school and leaving his friends behind, knowing he will be changing, but they would still be the same, but it is thought the words were written with deeper meaning behind them. Very ...

Re: Newly Identified Tumours One Year on from Whipple

Amanda,
I am so sorry to hear David has lost his incredibly brave fight. How wonderful though that your little girls will have all those lovely memories of their exceptionally brave Daddy,

Take care,
Nikki

Re: Husband just diagnosed at 36

Hi Fiona, Your bravery and strength is so inspiring. To go and watch that game on Sunday will be such a challenge I know, but what an amazing tribute to Jim. I will be using Pooh when the time comes, and am very touched that you are too, and I am so pleased the words have brought you comfort as they...

Re: Abraxane -our experiences so far

We had a much better night last night, Paul didn't stir until 4 am, and then the nurses came in and gave him some Diamorphine and we both went back to sleep. The hospice staff are very supportive of whatever I want to do. We can stay here, or they will arrange equipment for him to go home, they have...

Re: Ensure and smelly gas

Hi there, May be worth asking about different drink supplements. My husband had Peptamin, this was recommended by a specialist dietitian and unlike a lot of foods/drinks, never caused him any problems with pain, as it is very easy to digest. You could also ask about a super probiotic such as VSL# 4, ...

Re: Hi my story

Hi Graham, I am sorry to hear you are having to face this horrible disease. Their is no clear answer as to whether chemo is going to be worth it for you. Some people really struggle with it, whilst others breeze through, and I do think, from my husband's experience, and others I have read here it is...

Re: Abraxane -our experiences so far

Thank you All, your messages mean a lot. Paul is quite comfortable during the day, but becomes very agitated at night. They are increasing his sedation, but of course that is also hard as he is sleepy all the time, and I already miss him so much. The Drs today said they have never known a patient wi...

Re: Husband just diagnosed at 36

Fiona, reading your post brought more Pooh to mind (not normally a fan, but a nurse at the hospital was fond of quoting this, so I looked it up). "If ever there is a tomorrow when we are not together, there is something you must always remember.... You are Braver than you believe, Stronger than you ...

Re: Carls story

Rob it is such good news that Carl is tolerating the chemo and the shoulder pain has gone. Try not to get too hung up on the tumour markers (easier said than done, I know), we all know high or low they aren't always a very good reflection of what is going on. Nikki Ps I told one of the specialist nu...

Re: Husband just diagnosed at 36

Dear Fiona, I am so very, very sorry to hear that Jim has lost his brave fight. I have seen his picture and he was so handsome and came across as such a warm, lovely guy, it is so desperately unfair. As I imagine you have read Paul is near the end of his fight, the future seems pretty unbearable but ...

Re: Abraxane -our experiences so far

They are struggling to get on top of his pain at the hospice at the moment, so until that is better controlled he will stay there. I desperately want to take him home, but as we know from the experience of others that is not always possible, so I am prepared for that. It is good to be able to spend ...

Re: Wish someone would help him

Leila, It is so frustrating for you that because your Dad had such a bad experience he can't get the support that might help him. We don't have Macmillian in our area but the hospice have community nurses. The first one we had wanted to talk about where Paul wanted to die and said a lot of ahhh's, w...

That can only be a good sign Didge, as the Cancer eats up the calories when it's very active.
