Re: Our hero lost the battle

Sarah!!! If you didn't laugh you would cry. In fact I seem to have mastered the art of doing both at the same time. We have such terrific friends. Today the sun was shining in Ireland. I looked out and a neighbour was cutting a hedge at the front of our house, a physio arrived with a walking aid for...

Helen have a bit of wit. We are all here supporting you even in the smallest of ways. You can't always be the one with the positive comments. Good luck for the next few days.

Re: Our hero lost the battle

Karen, hi. I did smile about the grass having to be perfect. Bob and Bill must have been quite alike. Bills hedges look like he used a spirit level when he was cutting them. I see this morning that another good man has gone. Julia's Ray. This is unbelievable. Who's next? Bill not good. He can't do s...

Julia. So so sorry to read your post this morning. Your man sounds like he fought to the end and as we would say here....even kept the nurses in Craic with his humour! 41 years my goodness congratulations! Thinking about you. Karen a matter of days ago and now you, this cancer doesn't give up does i...

Re: Heidelberg University Hospital

Really good luck with your op Steve. We tend to not look past our own professionals who are sitting in front of us. We were told in May when the Whipple was not able to be done for Bill and a bypass had been done instead that' no surgeon in the world could have removed that tumour' . So until right ...

Re: coping - or just

Karen it's just so good of you to post on here in the midst of all you are going through. I think of it like this. My life is not going to take the route I thought it would take. There is a sharp 90 degree shift coming up. Bill will never be a grandad and he adores kids. Who knows what is around the...

Re: coping - or just

Liz, hi. We knew nothing at all about benefits but our GP told us we should fill in a DLA form, that's disability living allowance and that we would definitely get it. Your GP fills in something called a DS 1500 and sends it off to back up the form which you fill out. It's not means tested as far as...

Re: A Mother in a Million

Nia, I hope it gives you some strength knowing that other homes are affected by this terrible disease and that we are thinking about you. I have a trickle of sweat down my face but have just helped my freezing cold shivering husband to bed with a hot water bottle and two duvets. You sound like an am...

Re: My Brave Dad here in Ireland

Linda. Hi. It's my husband who is ill. Tell me, what part of Ireland? We are north and attend the xx in xx. What about you, north or south? Wouldn't it be lovely to meet an actual person in the waiting room?

Re: Scared for my dad

I agree Sarah. Same for me. After diagnosis bawling and crying every two minutes. Now I focus on right now and what we have to do today. It's all you can do. Bill has started to eat interesting food again yay! Made one of my wee fave recipes yesterday involving chilli, garlic, ginger etc......eaten ...

Re: J-T, Karen, Cathy??

Duh......I really am thick. I have just today found the little box which indicates that there are a whole pile of posts! The ones that I thought I couldn't access! So sorry, forgive me as I am 58 with an addled brain. Jealous of that Cathy bird packing her bikinis for Crete! You know what? Wi fi my ...

Re: Scared for my dad

Helen. See when you go back to work, just put your hand up like a halt sign in front of you and say' please don't say anything sympathetic or I won't be able to cope ' that's what I did when Bill was diagnosed and it was the only way I got over that first while when you are really in shock. Even get...

Re: Scared for my dad

Hi Helen. Poor you. I read about your wedding and felt really sorry for you and your dad on a lap top! We had a wedding in July and it was touch and go whether my husband would be able to go to our daughter's wedding. Then again we had a hundred mile drive, not a flight. Yes PC is a rough deal but d...
