Re: Bill has gone

Over six grand raised now! Get a load of purple ribbons in your house and you will be amazed. After all it is pancreatic cancer awareness month. Fantastic tribute down at the school today. Just pitched perfectly and exactly him. I know I will hit a wall soon and be angry about why he got it in the f...

Bill has gone

Well, that's it over. Bill is being cremated tomorrow. He lost the fight at 12.20 last Tuesday morning. To be honest I would not have wished him to live one more minute. He couldn't swallow, couldn't open his eyes, couldn't speak, couldn't stand and had to have a syringe driver put up a matter of ho...

Re: A bit of a worry....

Oh bless my soul. Make a spread sheet of the drugs. Buy one of those little boxes where the days of the week are stamped on and put all the drugs in. Bill could no more sort that all out than fly to the moon. Ok. OxyContin what dosage? You can go up and up. Bill now on 100 mg night and morning with ...

Re: Folfirinox or Capecitabine ?

Hi Linda. My husband is on capecitabine and another thing. They commonly call it gem/cap. You get a drip once a week and the rest of it is in tablet form. You do three weeks on and one off. Bill has never been sick or anything with this treatment. Just very tired. Hope this helps.

Re: Scared for my dad

Dear Helen Your father would prefer your words before the words of any literary genius. You knew him better than any one so have the confidence to stand up and tell it how it was. Amateur my foot! Good for you for writing something. I have been half thinking about what I should say when this killer ...

Re: Scared for my dad

Helen, so sorry to hear about your dad, you sound just devastated. That feeling of expecting him to walk through the door followed by the realisation that he never will......terrible. I understand that. After my mum died a few years ago I kept thinking oh I must tell mum that, then the jolt....oh no...

Re: Such a horrible disease

Ok hi. About the stairs. My husband fell downstairs last week and could have killed himself so you need to be so so careful. A physio called with us a few days ago and I asked her advice about the stairs. She told Bill to turn and go down one step at a time sideways. She also told me to put a chair ...

Re: Such a horrible disease

Julie, hi forceval is quite a good wee orange flavoured drink. Packed with vitamins and minerals. Also calshakes has your dad got those? My hubby hated the shake things mind you and I gave them all back to the pharmacy. I just read everyone's posts and second all that they are saying. Good luck June W

Re: Folfirinox started on Wednesday and other stuff

Julia, more tears reading your write up about Ray's funeral. It seems that not only you loved him eh? Lanzarote well whatever next. Good for you. It will feel odd I'm sure without him but will take you out of home environment and you will enjoy the grandchildren. Hope the sun shines on your upturned...

Re: Chemotherapy options

Carole. Sincere sympathies to you and your family. It seems that you had a horrendous time and dreadful treatment. Poor Clive and poor you. You made a very very brave decision to bring him home and you must be really glad that you did. So much kinder than in a hospital bed. Thank you for sharing all...

Re: Our hero lost the battle

Karen. It was so lovely to read about Bobs party, for that is what it was. It sounds as though it went perfectly and I'm sure he would have had a ball. Once again you made me laugh. Here I am silently blubbering and I get to the bit where the pub ran out of drink!!! Priceless! I think it was very ge...

Re: Pin badges and fundraising

Blooming fantastic! I think you are all amazing, the purple badges are great, I am going to get loads and raise money by selling them Are you allowed to do that? Bill taught in a large grammar school so I guess I could start with the staff! They are terrific about visiting and keeping in touch so I'...
