Re: The longest days but there gone so fast

Jools has asked me to post the following "We're still hanging on but slipping away, Bill's peaceful, a distant look in his eyes, trying to find his way, still wanting to stay a while. His chest infection seems no worse, hiccups have calmed down." She is having trouble posting to the forum from her i...

Re: Living day by day

Well, I have survived my first week back at work - with a much, much reduced workload - and a very foggy brain. It has felt good to be back but it is very clear that I cannot just pick up where I left off. My GP bosses have welcomed me back with open arms but also have decided to keep on the nurse w...

Re: Newbie, advice and support please?

I just posted a long reply and it has not appeared - very frustrating! I essentially said that your m-in-law need not be in so much pain and that the dose of MST could be upped. If it controls the pain better it won't make her more sleepy. Do you have any idea what dose she is taking? It comes in 10...

Re: Another 'newbie'

One step at a time on this massive rollercoaster - it's all ups and downs isn't it - and hard to predict what is coming next. If you can them take it as it comes, enjoy the better bits and roll with the worse bits. It is a horrible ride, one you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy, and yet, somehow, s...

Re: Where now ?

Hugs Diane, sounds like it has been a very worrying time for you. I am guessing that Alan was already diabetic, reading between the lines of what you said. PC can itself cause diabetes and if already diabetic can cause havoc with control. So all Alan's symptoms do 'fit' together. You both need some ...

Re: No bed available at hospital for gastric bypass!!!

Oh I am so glad she is coming home! Lets hope all the symptoms can be kept in check for a long time - you are so right about the sneaky behaviour of this horrid disease! Keep your guard up but enjoy every good moment you can.

Lots of love and bug, big hugs
Sue

Courage, my friend, we are walking with you. Take each moment as it comes. Smile, laugh, cry and talk. Especially talk, talk to Bill because he can hear you even when he cannot respond. Lots of love and hugs and thinking of you all day, Sue, xxx

Re: 24/7 its non stop since diagnosis

Big hugs for you too Jools. What a horrible position to be in. If everyone has agreed that keeping Bill comfortable is the only priority then can that be done at home so that he gets his wish and you get yours? They could step up the care at home maybe? Regular once/twice/3 or 4 times a day visits, ...

Re: FIRST MILESTONE- MY PARENTS WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

It is three weeks today since Pete died and today I caught myself laughing at something and then feeling awful for laughing. But in truth he would rather see me laughing than crying. I think it's going to be a long time until I feel any sense of 'normal'. We just have to keep going, one day at a tim...

Re: Living day by day

You are such lovely people, thank you all. As you can imagine it has been a busy time and I've been reading your messages but not finding time to post. It's quietened down now. The funeral was on Friday... What a day! It was, even though I say so myself, a wonderful send-off for Pete. Over 200 peopl...

Diane you are doing so very well. Well done you! Make the most of every minute that you can. None of us know the future. You and Alan have good spirit. Living in the moment is really very important isn't it? We're all here for you, lots of love, Sue, xxx
