Re: No bed available at hospital for gastric bypass!!!
You and Andrea are never very far from my thoughts, Paul. I hope you have a lovely Christmas together and that Andrea is comfortable. I am sending you every good wish that I can muster. I feel that Pete is here with me as I prepare for Christmas and in a funny kind of way life is good and awful, all...

Re: Newbie, advice and support please?
Oh Sammy-Lou I hope you get to have a good Christmas with Anne to look back on and cherish in the years to come. Such a hard time of year to be ill and in pain. My thoughts are with you all. Take care and enjoy every moment you can, with love, Sue, xxx

I am so sorry to hear this Lulu. My heartfelt condolences go to you and your family. One day at a time, look after yourself, there are no rights and wrongs. Give your dad a brilliant send off and look back on his life with love and pride. Hugs to you and lots of love, Sue, xxx

Re: Husband newly diagnosed
You're in a new place now Bibs and there's no map to guide you. You will find your way, bit by bit, but we are all different and find different ways to get through this. I hear you when you say no-one is talking to you. Would you be able to talk to someone and break the ice? I think so many people j...

Re: creon / 2nd attempt chemo?
I would say Pete had about 12 a day - more or less according to what he was eating - and they were the 25,000 variety. I would echo what Laura said about red meat. It seemed to be the worst thing to digest and often Pete would be in trouble after eating it - pain or nausea or vomiting - or all three...

Re: creon / 2nd attempt chemo?
Pete used to open the creon and sprinkle it onto his food - didn't taste of anything apparently - and it saved taking more pills. Might help anyone who finds it difficult to take pills 'cos they're quite large aren't they?

Re: First post
Oh 'wife', here you are among people who do know. You can talk to us all you like. We will hear you, hold you, understand you. My husband, Pete, was 58. He was diagnosed in August and died in October. On Christmas eve it will be two long months since he went. Our lives have been turned upside down. ...

Re: No bed available at hospital for gastric bypass!!!
Until Pete was ill and I read this forum I had never heard of creon. I am not surprised that GPs don't know about it. They should listen and learn though...

Re: My dad
It is a huge shock isn't it? I am sorry, Ezobor, that you had to join our little band. Here though you will find total understanding. We have been where you are now. Are your dad (and mum?) asking lots of questions? Do they have a palliative care nurse, maybe a macmillan nurse (or marie curie). Thes...

Re: Another 'newbie'
I am sorry that I was not clear Lesley, my Pete died four weeks ago. He was diagnosed in August and the end, when it came, came a lot quicker than anyone could have predicted. We did, though, make the best of those two months and I have no regrets. Pete would not have wanted to be ill for a long tim...

Re: Another 'newbie'
To LesleyJS, goodness me I hear you! I can remember feeling exactly the same when Pete was diagnosed and yet everyone told me it was all going as fast as it could. We were also told terminal pancreatic cancer on the basis of the CT scan. A biopsy followed a week later - my understanding is that they...

Re: Another 'newbie'
To 'confused' I would say you need to talk to the staff. Are the palliative care team involved, if not ask why not and ask to meet with them. Or ask for an appointment with your mother's consultant. Talking to ward staff and junior doctors often leads to not much information and further confusion in...
