Re: Newbie, advice and support please?

Hugs, Sam, this is so hard isn't it? Just let go and live day by day, doing the best you can each moment. Your daughter will take all this in her stride, as young children do, and will very likely not remember a thing in time to come. My girls' Nanny died when they were 6 and 7 and they were very in...

I am thinking of you today too Paul. One step at a time. You will be able to do this, bit by bit. Big hugs

Re: The Struggle is over

Oh Diane, I am sending you virtual hugs. I am so sorry but pleased that Alan was peaceful in his final days. Nearly four years is amazing - a complete contrast to our 2months and 3days. Take good care of yourself. It is hard but you can do it. Lots of love and sympathies, Sue, xxx

Oh Paul, my heart goes out to you. Andrea is at peace. There will be a lot to do now and you will be able to do it because you are strong. But there is no hurry. For now you can just be. My love and condolences go to you and your and Andrea's families. RIP Andrea.

Re: Chemotherapy options

Well done Carole on being 'lovely but firm'. And you are already making progress. I think that the NHS is a slow old beast. Everyone means well but the organisation is not slick and you have had the misfortune to need help over the holiday period. Now, hols are all over, it is time to identify the p...

Oh Laura, I am so, so sorry to hear about your son. What a shock for you and your family. Please look after yourself, you are very precious to all of us, your forum family. One step at a time. I am thinking of you and Bri and I hope the coming days and weeks are bearable. You will cope because you a...

Re: Newbie, advice and support please?

Thank you for the update Sam, so glad you got to spend a little of Christmas together. I hope the coming weeks are as peaceful and as comfortable as possible for your mil. She definitely does not need to be in pain.
Lots of love

Re: No bed available at hospital for gastric bypass!!!

Oh Paul, I am so so sorry, it is so hard just to keep going. You and Andrea are constantly in my thoughts. I have had a bad day today, probably my worst since Pete died and I have cried a lot. Knowing you are facing the same journey makes it seem all the worse. I send you love and wish you strength.

Oh Deb, you are so wonderful to post about your feelings, echoing what so many of us are thinking and feeling. Thank you. Our first Christmas without Pete was a bitterwseet mixture and in many ways I am feeling his loss more now that it is all over. I cannnot imagine a whole year without him. I have...

Re: Is this normal ?

Hi Alice I agree with all that has been said - your mum's diagnosis and care since could have been handled so much better. I am sure most of us could think of ways our care could have been improved but your poor mum does seem to have been particularly badly served. Does your mum have someone who wil...

Re: Palliative care

Hallo Sarah, I hope you have seen the MacMillan team now. Just in case you haven't please feel you can ring your dad's GP, or specialist nurse (there should be one attached to the oncology unit) and ask them to give you a contact number and then ring yourself. Mostly things go fine but occasionally ...

Re: Chemotherapy options

Hi Carole, I am sorry you're in this horrid situation and share your frustration. I agree with all that has been written and have two more nuggets of information that might be helpful. Firstly we were told that gemcitabine is excreted in bile and therefore the liver must be functioning well and ther...

I wanted to wish you all a happy Christmas, as happy as we all can manage given our shared pain and memories. But we had a power failure all Christmas day and are still coping with the repercussions. It's made for an interesting Christmas to say the least! But I also feel I have been rushed off my f...

Re: Where now ?

Please don't think that anyone will think badly of you Diane. No-one will. You and Alan must do what is right for you and you have made the best decision. Hospices are wonderful places and you will both feel more relaxed. If I may I would like to share a little of how I feel. I nursed my father at h...
