Re: Missing Mam so much - Mam's Spirit

Hi Nicola It is such an awful time that you are going through, at the moment everything will probably feel so dark and bleak, and that you cannot imagine what your life is going to be like or even that you will laugh or smile again. It is nearly 8 months since my beautiful mum passed. I remember pos...

Re: Come on Eileen (My Mam) Died 11.08.12

I am so very sorry for your terrible loss. Please try not to blame yourself or go along the "what if" road, easier said that done, I know. No one can predict what "the end" will be like, everyone is different, and you and your Dad did everything you could to look after your Mam. My Mum had a very si...

Re: My Feisty Mum!!!

Hi Jan Sorry to hear about your mum, and welcome to the forum, I hope that you do get comfort, support and also feel that you can vent your anger/fears here too. I lost my mum to PC in December. My mum wasn't offered an op, but had 3 sessions of Gemcetibine chemo, she too had cellulitus. First thing...

Re: Come on Eileen (My Mam)

Hi Nicola It's awful what you are going through. My heart goes out to you. I can only talk from my own experience, and I would assume that everyone is different. My mum's last 2 weeks were strange, one day we would think that she was going, then the next day she would manage a few steps to the commo...

Re: Ella - My Amazing Mam, Passed, Devastated. (& other side)

Hi Ella I'm glad that everything went well on Friday. I'm not too bad, I think I hit rock bottom about 2/3 months after mum went, the anger that I had was awful, I was unrecognisable. I started counselling in April, and it has really helped. I still miss mum, and think about her all the time, but I ...

Re: My mum's story so far....

Alison My heartfelt condolences goes out to you and your family. I am so very sorry that your Mum has passed. She would have known that you were there, she is so absolutely proud of you for all that you have done for her. It is very difficult arranging a funeral, did you talk it over with your mum b...

Re: Ella - My Amazing Mam, Passed, Devastated. (& other side)

Hi Ella Sorry to hear about your Mum. My heart felt condolences go to you and your family. It is an absolutely horrendous time that you are going through, and to be honest, no words can take away the pain that you are feeling. Take each day at a time, don't expect too much of yourself. If you want t...

Re: General Advice / Support

Hi Susie My mum had ascities. I found the doctors tend to leave you in the dark, kind of a need to know basis. You sound like me, I had to know everything. Basically ascities is the tumour "leaking" fluid. The more fluid/or quicker the build up means that the tumour is getting bigger. A drain will b...

Oh Rachel

I'm so sorry that your Dad is so poorly, just when there seems a light at the end of the tunnel, it's taken away again. You must be feeling so desperate. I hope that the antibiotics kick in quickly and he starts to feel better very soon.

lots of love.

Re: My mum's story so far....

Hi Alison Oh god this is taking me back to last year. Firstly, with regards the draining. You need to get a point of contact at the hospital. Draining your mum is down to the hospital. Your mum's consultant is the person to speak to, ring his/her secretary and "demand" in a nice way, that what is ha...

Re: Update on my Dad

Hi Rachel Lots of love and best wishes being sent to you, your family and of course and your Dad. I hope and pray that the operation has been a success. The tubes do look so scary, I remember when my Dad had his heart operation, goodness me, there was about 15 tubes in at one point, but they are doi...

Re: My Dad, gone so soon

Oh Lorn, I am so very very sorry this has happened to you and your family. I cannot even begin to imagine how you are feeling. The shock from the initial diagnosis is still so fresh, yet alone the horrendous events that have happened since. This is truly a terrible disease, it is sneaky, deceptive a...

Re: My mum's story so far....

Dear Alison It is so hard isn't it? Seeing the change in mum and not really being able to do much to help. My mum had a permanent drain fitted. Hooray we thought at the time. Sadly, for mum, not the case. We were told that a trained nurse would come to her house and drain her periodically as and whe...
