Re: Hit by a double whammy and struggling

Hi John So sorry to hear about your Mum and the inexcusable miscommunications and delays - as if things weren't hard enough! My husband has a similar story - admitted to hospital in January with jaundice - doctor suspected gallstones initially but he had a stent fitted in his bile duct as it was blo...

Re: How are you Nicki, Ellie and LA

Hi Ellie Thanks for pointing me to your update! You must be exhausted with the rollercoaster ride you are on. I still can't quite adjust to how unpredictable things seem to be with this disease. I have given up trying to work out what tomorrow will bring - I think that side of things can be extremel...

Message for Ellie

Hi Ellie

Have been wondering how things are and thinking things must be very difficult for you at the moment as there has been little sign of you on the forum. Send my best wishes and love.

Re: How are you Nicki, Ellie and LA

Hi Ellie I haven't been able to get on to the forum for a little while and am so shocked and saddened to hear that things have deteriorated for you and your husband. I read your story and think it will be mine some day and I totally understand the fear you feel. As you know already though, the unkno...

Re: Any help, advice or support please.

Hi Ellie Surreal day today. We had a pre-arranged meeting with Gary's manager from work and a HR rep to talk about the situation. They had come to talk about the company policy with regards to the pension and options in the event of the worst happening. They were both lovely, very kind and supportiv...

Re: Hi

Hi Becki No, my husband has not been suffering with sickness at all. It is one of the side-effects of the chemo and he has tablets to take in the event he should be or feel sick, but luckily have not needed them so far. As said, get in touch with the medical staff to try and get this sorted. Good lu...

Re: Hi

Hi Becky I have spoken to you on another thread and am sorry to hear about your uncle. You and your family are obviously going through a terrible time at the moment which all of us on here will understand. I send you my love and best wishes which I hope will give you strength. I have benefitted from...

Re: Any help, advice or support please.

Hi So sorry to hear your news. My story is also very similar - my husband, Gary, was having flu like symptoms, lack of appetite, fatigue and feeling generally unwell just before Christmas last year. He put it down to his shift working and thought he just need a good rest which was planned over the C...

Re: Guilt

Thanks so much for your supportive replies Nicki, Ellie and Becky. I haven't been to work since the beginning of January, and it is a relief that this isn't unusual. Gary's chemo/radio treatment, if it keeps to planned timescales, will be complete at the beginning of August and ideally I would like ...

Re: How long between biopsy and follow up appointment

Hi So sorry to hear of your nervous wait to hear results. From my experience, medical staff say very little early on, leaving you to your imagination and to searching on the internet, which can be terrifying. If you are unhappy with the length of time you are waiting and are concerned, then I would ...

Guilt

Hi all I just wanted to pick up on Nicki's comment about how she struggles with guilt, trying to balance work and her role as carer as it did really resonate with me (so don't apologise Nicki!) I am currently signed off work because initially my husband was so ill with jaundice that I was unable to ...

Re: please help me

Dear all I always feel like I am held in a big hug each time I visit this site and I hope you all feel it too. What a wonderful way we can support each other through these awful days. My husband is on week four of his first cycle and is enjoying his short respite from the "medication". What a differ...

Re: please help me

My husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has just started the GEMCAP treatment. He is 46 years old and we have a 12 year old daughter. We are absolutely devastated and I, like you, had days when I could not stop crying. I try to focus on what needs to be done each day and not to think too...
