Re: update on mum

I'm so sorry to hear about your mum, Louie.
You managed to have Christmas dinner with her and that is something good to remember.
She is peaceful now and that must be a comfort to you.
It sounds as though you are strong, just like your mum.
Thinking of you and your family,
Anne.

Re: First meeting with an Oncologist

Hello Rachel and Laura, Just a little note about Creon. The pancreas produces enzymes which pass into the intestine to digest your food. Creon is a mixture of enzymes which can be taken to increase the levels of enzymes in the gut when the pancreas isn't working properly. Your food can then be diges...

Re: The passing of Steve Jobs

He fought long and hard against his pancreatic cancer.
Rest in peace, Steve Jobs.
I suppose the article said "a form of pancreatic cancer" because it was a neuroendocrine tumour which is much rarer than adenocarcinoma which is the commonest form.
Very sad that he's gone.

Trevor that's an amazingly positive and encouraging story.
Thank you!
It is good to do things to push "this whole business" to the back of your mind if possible.

Dear Sue, I'm so sorry to hear your sad news but I can't help remembering what you wrote in June: Those are my beloved hills and if I could, I would live there". In that split second he looked so happy, content and at peace....I will never forget that and even in the face of such horrible circumstan...

Re: Diarrhea and Problems Eating

Hi Anita, I'm not really sure I'm afraid. Your mum is taking the same as me and I did wonder if she was taking less. I take 5x10,000 with a meal and she takes 2x25,000. It might be worth her trying a bit more if she can manage it. I haven't been on chemotherapy myself but have no pancreas at all. I ...

Re: Diarrhea and Problems Eating

Hello Anita,
So sorry to hear about your mum.
Can I just ask a quick question?
How much Creon does your mum take?
I know it's very variable how much each individual needs.
I take 5x10,000 capsules with a meal and I have no pancreas. Some people take much more.
Best wishes,
Anne.

Re: My amazing mum -- any advice/help?

I'm sorry to hear about your poor mum. It's a terrible shock when something like that happens especially as she was recovering so well from her Whipple's surgery. I'm afraid I can't give any advice, only sympathise. I had a Whipple's in December which was a completion pancreatectomy. I've been recov...
