Re: Feeling morbid!

Fab, it would be great to meet up at the xx , at least you will recognise me! Though my hair seems to be thickening up which is against the run of expectations.

Re: This cruel disease

Thank you both for signing the petition and passing it on. No wonder the survival rates are so terrible when 70% of people receive no treatment at all. Keithkerry, you are at the stage I am rapidly approaching, what happens when I get past round 12 of Folfirinox? Having had to fight so hard to get t...

Re: Feeling morbid!

Hi Michaela1, Yoga seems like a good idea to help and will strengthen the body and help sooth the mind. It is a pretty S**T trip that we have hitched ourselves onto isn't it? I find it hard to try and be cheerful and support the rest of the family and I do get snappy and angry which isn't fair on th...

Re: This cruel disease

Hi All, Firstly thanks to DG about meds advice, I had thought about antibiotics but not even considered Creon. I found out on the weekend that these cost £1 a tablet (regardless of size) so make sure you take enough for emergencies as well and keep them in the hand luggage as they are sensitive to t...

Re: Just started Folfirinox

The Petal, My Oncologist was happy for me to have chemo when is was only 1.3 and my white bloods cells were below the recommended level which did come as a bit of a surprise to me but I tolerated it well. I get a copy of each blood test result and have then on a spreadsheet with a commentary as to w...

Re: Feeling morbid!

Michaela1, We are all human and believe you me we all have bad thoughts as well as good. I have thrown the toys out of the pram on more than one occasion and done many of the "why me?" stomps through the woods. I have parked my cancer in an imaginary box and I try not to let it out too often. None o...

Re: Just started Folfirinox

Hi The Petal, My 2nd round was also delayed because I was jaundiced. Infact, Round 2 and Round 3 were reduced doses because I was recovering from jaundice and the Oncologist was worried about the toxicity of the chemo and the side effects. So don't panic this quite often happens and your Oncologist ...

Re: Despairing

Hi Cazzza, I am so sorry that you are still struggling with the loss of your husband, but relieved that you are receiving counselling. I am a Stage IV PC sufferer and you should not blame either your husband or yourself. I was a very fit 55 year old when I was struck down and was not only shocked at...

Re: Potential pancreatic cancer, help please!

Hi Paige Smith, Fully get where you are coming from and just accept that ultrasound scans and blood tests are not 100% accurate. Before being diagnosed with stage IV PC, I had had about 6 weeks of blood tests, ultrasound scans and various GP appointments and everything was coming back clear. Medicat...

Re: Folfirinox Round 7

Ha ha, Yes I am on Steroid Day as well so had a restless night, re-listened to one of my audio-books. I did miss some chapters so must have dropped off at some point. You are right that Nanoknife is only available privately in the UK and only if you can get your MDT team to approve the treatment, ot...

Re: Just started Folfirinox

Hi The Petal, I too did not feel hungry, I felt that I was trying to force down food when I felt as though I had just over eaten at Christmas. Unfortunately you will need to try to eat, this has improved for me during treatment. Look for easy to digest high nutrition foods, small and often is the ke...

Re: My Mom’s journey - advice appreciated

Hi JMorphy,
Has your mum been prescribed Creon? Also get Ensure drinks this will at least give her some essential vitamins and give her a bit of a pick up. It is available on prescription. What chemo are they offering?

Re: Just started Folfirinox

Hi The Petal, I have not had whipple so I cannot comment on blood sugar levels with relation to being diabetic. However, re Folfirinox everyone is different. I have just completed round 9 and my symptoms have not ramped up, in fact my symptoms are better than the first 3 doses as I was jaundiced and...

Re: Folfirinox Round 7

Michael1, Milkthistle comes in tablet format which is what I use. Round 9 went find today, but like Kate2101 I seem to be suffering more nausea this time round, but not as bad as morning sickness so not letting it trouble me too much. Re no energy, are you using Ensure?, this works for me if I am fe...
