Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Mo, if dad were alive he would regale you with tales of incompetent utilities after mum died. Even the funeral home stuffed up and sent the donations to the wrong charity and we had to ask for them back!! How did I not know Boris was cat royalty? A siamese, all your tales fall into place now. He sou...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Mo, I hope you are doing ok. I know the weather is bitter in Kent where we hail from so I hope you and B are not snowed in. As DG says time goes fast 23 Feb is the day I lost Jake and 24 I flew to the uk to see Dad. Life keeps going but I still miss them both every day. When you feel ready would lov...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Mo I think it is a credit to the person when strangers turn up, as Peter has obviously touched their lives. At my uncles funeral a perfect stranger rushed in at the last minute and said he had been in the Coldstream Guards with my uncle when they were both young. He had brought his cornet (my uncle ...

Research on early detection blood test

Thought people might be interested in this promising research http://www.smh.com.au/national/major-breakthrough-as-researchers-develop-blood-test-for-eight-common-cancers-20180118-h0kmdv.html It would certainly have helped dad to have this test in 2014 when he developed a large thrombosis but no evi...

Re: Question re time in end stage

Hi Staystrong, as others have said it is hard to say. Dad largely gave up eating and was in a lot of discomfort in the third week of March. He had 2 weeks in our wonderful hospice for symptom management including ascites drainage and did recover his appetite for a short period on steroids. He then h...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

We had Cwm Rhondda at both dad and mums funeral as they were both proud welsh rugby addicts. I think Dad would have liked the Hannibal theme as he always had that black sense of humour about funerals. I also defy anyone not to cry at con te partiro. I feel teary typing it. Mo I'm with you re clothes...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Didge you made me realise I promoted the wrong brand. It's PG tips not Tetley that is the brew of choice. " It's the taste" apparently 😁 Mo in my mind Peter is a strong Highlander striding over the mountains exuding Sauvage - I hope he would approve of the image. X

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Mo be thankful you don't live here my sister says the tea is p&ss weak and used to insist on dad bringing out commercial quantities of tetley in his case. Luckily they now stock it her in certain shops but the kids and I are not allowed to touch her stash!!
I hope you got that snooze x

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Mo he sounds like my dad who waited for his train far longer than we expected. For a man who lost both parents to heart disease his stubbornly kept on going. I know you are in limbo and the end will be a shock but I am hoping that like me you have done much of your grieving along the way so that the...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Mo, my lovely mum used to offer cwtchs too, as we are a Welsh family. I am so glad your hospice is so lovely. Dad liked ours so much that he had 2 visits and insisted with success that he wanted to die there. I like to think of it as his final victory, as it was just like a 5 star hotel and they wer...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Mo I'm so relieved. It sounds like our hospice, which was a simply beautiful place. I hope by the time you read this you have had a decent sleep. Xxx
