I am so sorry... one day they will beat this vile disease. May your mum rest in everlasting peace. x

Re: Don’t know where to start

Hi I am glad mum was better on steroids. I have not been on much but re the wedding, I would book as you see fit and then just ask for a break. If it was me (with hindsight) and you really want mum to enjoy it then I would have the week off before as well and her dr's should go for that. People have...

Re: Question re time in end stage

Hun, if your mum is fearful and reaching the end stage then they can help with that as well and sedate her a little more or something. Have you told them that she is agitated and fearful as well? We do know how tough it is but palliative care is not just about sickness and pain - it is the whole hol...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

It is a very surreal time after the funeral Mo... I have been reading everything but we are wobbling coming up to dad's year anniversary and I don't want to say the wrong thing which I can do when a bit emotional. It is humbling to see so many come to say goodbye and people you have not met. I also ...

Re: Don’t know where to start

Hi Christine, Don't wait to get people involved, call now - you need to nip these symptoms in the bud in my experience. They can get the pain under control - she should not be in pain. Perhaps also ask for some steroids as well to get her appetite up and give her some energy before you start treatme...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

I think you are all mad - it has to be Yorkshire Tea. Just when I thought I knew you all... whatever next! We had to wait 4 weeks for dad's funeral. He died on the 9th of February and was cremated on the 8th March. I am not sure what influence it had that the only input I had to his funeral was that...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

I am so sorry Mo, he was such a brave warrior. You both did so well and we are proud of you both and humbled.

Until you two meet again we will be forever by your side - you know where we all are.

Love you Mo.

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

You are getting a lot of cyber hugs sent to you Mo from all of us. All of dads brothers and sister came to dad on the night he died but at the end it was just my mum and my sister and I think that is how dad would have wanted it. Such strong warriors deserve to keep their dignity. Much love. DG

Re: Don’t know where to start

Hey Christine, All these tablets etc and the illness can play havoc with the bowels. You need to get the GP on board but also try Imodium and stuff over the counter as it will not hurt your mum and is a very safe medication. As for the smoking - I am an ex smoker for 6 years and used to smoke 30 - 4...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Hey Mo, There was some things M said to me that resonated on the night of dad passing. I did not want to go in there and I found the breathing very distressing - I remember saying to her I almost breathe for him with every breath. I only went back in for 2 minutes to stand on the edge and say my goo...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Hey Mo, I am glad that Peter is in a place of caring and help. My dad did not suffer pain or sickness in the end - it is amazing what they can do. The only thing I found distressing was the way he breathed and seemed to be gasping for breath / laboured noisy breathing and my dear Marmalade helped me...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Oh bless you Mo.. I walked out of the shop on the snow day here with some nice ski gloves for the other half as he does not have any gloves for walking the dog. There was a poor homeless person sat there with no gloves and hardly any belongings and so I gave them to him and the other half still has ...

Re: Thanks for sharing your experiences . . .

Hey Mo, what a nightmare you have had - lots of hugs from me. I would also worry mainly about the aggression because you would not want Peter to do something really serious to you inadvertently (and remember he did). It is such a hard time and I am grateful dad was in the hospital for the management...

Re: Diagnosed in May 2017

There is not much else I can add to this other than my dads tumour was in the tail of the pancreas but he had Creon and could not cope without it. I don't really know why you can't just try it and see - there is no adverse harm in trying. x

Re: Usual waiting times for procedures

That is good news and gives a lot of hope to other people prediagnosis. I have said on here before I have a bronchogenic cyst of around 4-5cm sitting nicely against my Aorta and nerve for my voice. They have wanted to take it out for an age but I just get a 6 monthly scan instead for changes and not...
