Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

Dearest PW, I am devastated for your loss. You cared for him brilliantly for such a long time and he fought so hard. I understand so well how you feel right now. My heart is aching and my tears flowing for you, your hubby and family, and for everyone else coping with this dreadful journey. xxxx Lind...

Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

PW, I am shocked to hear that! She should be ashamed of herself. Its hard enough without having to fight for what Hubby needs. It seems as if you are in a really difficult situation and not necessarily in the right ward. It seems everything grinds to a halt at weekends. Hope you have better staff to...

Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

Hi Judith, so sorry to hear you are in this position. We all know about being scared and thinking we can't do this anymore - but you are right, we manage to do it as long as it is necessary. Through smiles and rivers of tears we keep going as long as our loved one needs us. Keep strong Judith. Linda...

Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

We are all quite amazing, aren't we! We go through this hideous process with our loved ones, every day becoming harder and more stressful. Caring for them, loving them with every fibre of our being. Just making the best of a dreadful situation. You don't feel strong do you? You feel weak and frighte...

Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

Thank you both. It was only the brief version of his last month. There was so much more went on that is too hard to write. Thats why I never submitted the whole story from when he was first diagnosed. If there was a complication to be got, he got it. He developed diabetes before christmas and ended ...

Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

PW, I hope I have not upset you or anyone else by our story. Like you I was unsure about everything and scared to ask. Didn't know what to expect next. I just let the staff do their job and helped Stew as much as I could. I feel the thing about this forum is - it's about truth and honesty, you can't...

Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

It's lovely to read that hubby is a bit brighter and you are sharing some magical moments that will stay with you forever. I never posted Stew's story before because I find it so difficult - but here is brief resume. He was transferred to the hospice on Feb 1st. At that time he was eating and drinki...

Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

PW, so sad to read the position you find yourselves in. My heart aches for you both. I think the difference between hospital and hospice is that in the hospice they will offer Hubby choices in his care if he is able. When Stewart was in the hospice the doctor sat with us and asked Stewart what he wa...

Re: Feeling totally lost

Hi Shelda, it's very, very early days in your grief for your Mum, don't be so hard on yourself. I know what you mean about not letting go in front of family members. I stopped going to see my older sister because her and her husband both got so upset when I cried. I went yesterday for the first time...

Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

I hope he starts to pick up soon. It sounds daft but I'm glad its the infection and not the PC. Hope you are managing to get some rest now. Now you have made it very clear he should get better care - it should not be like this but past experience proves it is. Me and Stewart and Leila and her Dad su...

Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

Dear PW, I am so pleased you are able to be at his side. It gives you the opportunity to be his wife rather than his nurse/carer. Knowing he is being cared for gives you the chance to rest a bit and recharge your batteries. I agree with Annette, people with no direct contact with this horrendous can...

Re: Wish someone would help him

Hi Leila, I know exactly how you feel! I don't seem to be able to move forward at all. I understand the numbness too. Its one year tomorrow since Stewart was diagnosed. Every day I go through the "this time last year" scenario. I try so hard just to get through every day, it's not really living thou...

Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

Ah PW, my heart aches for you both. Crying as I write this because I know how you feel and I know how very difficult this is. I agree with Leila, its a very personal decision. Stew was in hospital for two weeks and I was not allowed to stay overnight - I don't think they realised how ill he was. He ...
