Re: Feeling totally lost

Shelda, I'm so sorry to hear this. You have done brilliantly to support your Mum. I'd just like to comment on what you say about your Mum not drinking enough but your Mum saying she was. One thing, amongst many, I learned whilst supporting my husband through his journey was that it was very easy to ...

Re: Surgical Removal of Tumour

Hobbs, you asked some questions about my husband's treatment which I think Didge's post addresses. He had the surgery 12 days after diagnosis because he was admitted as an emergency because the stent procedure which had been successful for your mother was not successful for him and he was becoming i...

Re: Surgical Removal of Tumour

Hobbs On the Whipple my husband had it at the age of 66 and recovered well. It is a well established process although it is complex and requires recovery time. I think that the mild chemo the oncologist refers to is gemcetabine which is usually used as adjuvant chemotherapy. From what you say all is...

I hope W and M responds to your post. I haven't made jelly from fortisip but I think what you need is gelatine which is a setting agent.

Hope all is well today. You certainly have to get used to instant changes with PC. There is just so much that can happen. As Sue says, stay strong.

Re: Thank you and our story... but we are not that far yet!

Dandygirl, I really admire your support for your father. Different chemo is used for different types of cancer and, as you know, different people react in different ways. If your parents want to go on holiday simply discuss this with the chemo nurses or oncologist and see what can happen. May I resp...

Shelda just a word of support and I know this will be a difficult time. My experience is to take each day as it comes and try not to worry. Sending warm thoughts to you. Catherine

Re: Finding it so hard to recall better times

I think any verse, poem, quote or whatever that helps people move forward is great. I have heard the one that you wrote PW but not Jeni's. They are very different. Jeni's is more about the grieving process which is interesting.

Re: Finding it so hard to recall better times

Hi Linda, I think it's very easy to question whether we could have done things differently or better and run them through our minds. But we all did our best I'm sure. These feelings will get less and less and we will remember the good times which lasted for longer. As Dandygirl says we will find our...

Re: Totally in awe of my wonderful Husband!

PW I'm really sorry to hear you have been low and in the circumstances it's understandable and I can really empathise. I think everyone's experiences can be different both the patient and carer and getting counselling now will be good. Something with hindsight I might have welcomed. On eating patter...
