Re: Newly diagnosed 45 yr old mum of 4

Hi all, What a lovely day it has been today. My visit with friends to the art gallery was wonderful. My friends met me with open arms and smiles and not for one moment did I feel uncomfortable about my changed look or the fact that we had to take it slow. The journey took around an hour, through won...

Folfirinox minus Irinotecan

Hi all Wondering if anyone has any experience of getting Folfirinox minus Irinotecan. Since the beginning of my chemo (have had 5 2 week cycles) I have had issues which my Oncologist is confident are adverse reactions to Irinotecan. These start in the clinic when they administer it present themselve...

Re: My Dads diagnosis

Hi Alison I have just been reading through your recent posts about your lovely dad and the pain in his shoulder blade. I have suffered from that type of pain from the start. My specialist nurse has told me this is typical Pancreatic pain, it can be on right, radiates up the spine and into shoulder b...

Re: Newly diagnosed 45 yr old mum of 4

Thanks everyone for your kind support, being able to dip in here is great. I have a lovely day to look forward to today. My favourite artist (Julie Dumbarton - check out her "colour hugs...they brighten the dullest and most difficult days) is having an open day at her Gallery. It's an hours drive aw...

Re: Nanoknife - what are the qualification criteria?

Thanks everyone, that really does help, I will give the support line a call in the next few days to discuss further. My tumor was 9cm and at my last CT Scan on Friday 25th Sept, after 4 cycles of Folfirinox it has reduced to 8cm. It's in the tail of my pancreas, the surrounding blood vessels and adr...

Nanoknife - what are the qualification criteria?

Hi all, Early on in my diagnosis I did a little reading up on Nanoknife but must admit to being a little clueless. Can anyone tell me what is the clinical qualification criteria for getting it? I think I read somewhere that the tumour had to be kept within the Pancreas and not spread to the arteries...

Re: ITS BEEN A WHILE--THE LOVE OF MY LIFE HAS CANCER

Hi, I really hope you both enjoy your cruise. You really have been through the mills with this. I hope you are also now getting the support you need from the professionals. When I read the different threads on this site it can seem like a real post code lottery with some of us feeling like we have e...

Re: Newly diagnosed 45 yr old mum of 4

Hi all

I have had some wonderful news today. I a have now had 4 cycles of Folfirinox and my latest scan, taken a week ago, shows that my tumour has shrunk by 1cm. It was 9cm so is large but I feel this is a real step in the right direction.

Feeling happy tonight.

Re: So frightened for my Dad

Hi Kate I am so sorry to hear of your loss, from your words it is easy to tell that you loved your dad very much. pancreatic Cancer is so cruel but it at least sounds like he had a peaceful death. I lost my mum last year, she had a condition called Sjogrens Syndrome, it isn't normally terminal. She ...

Re: Newly diagnosed 45 yr old mum of 4

A wee drama or two! Hi all have had a couple of wee dramas this week. Firstly I woke up Sunday morning with cramping in my right leg, continued all day so I decided to call NHS24 . Turns out I have a DVT. I was glad I had reported it early. Secondly I had a fall in the shower on Tuesday morning. It ...

Re: Newly diagnosed 45 yr old mum of 4

Hi Julia Due to my reaction I was getting the Atripine before, then half an hour after and then a back up dose for home. Unfortunately even that didn't control the adverse reaction and that's why this time the missed it out all together. What I don't know at this stage is how removing this drug will...

Re: ITS BEEN A WHILE--THE LOVE OF MY LIFE HAS CANCER

Hi, it sounds like you are having an awful time of it. Please don't ever feel you are a burden. Ask all the questions you need to. Ask for a dietician referral if you haven't already. I certainly found that a godsend. I have a Specialist Nurse who I can phone during the day and I find her to be wond...
