Re: update on mum

Hi Louie Sorry to hear that your Mum has been having such a hard time...still she has you to look out for her which is more than some people have. It is terribly hard seeing a loved one in pain and it does make us all very angry when hospitals seem not to have anticipated things which we would all t...

Re: How are you Nicki

Hi Millyjo and it's great to hear from you. Both Ted and I are good - after three years he finally got up the confidence to agree to go on holiday and it was such a welcome break! I think it did us both the world of good and it's re-envigorated us for a while which is welcome because Ted's next onco...

Upwardly Mobile... aka You are warned! (funny)

As long-term users of the board will know, Ted has been having trouble with his legs and mobility. Well today he finally capitulated and let me buy him a mobility scooter. He was shown how to use it by the dealer. Shortly afterwards we decided to get a drink in the local market. Cue Ted trying to pa...

Re: Message for Nicki

Aww thanks Lyn. Yes, we're ok although I've been very tired lately - I think it's just the ongoing coping with things. Ted's birthday yesterday and he had a good day, which was really important to me. Waiting now for the next scan (12 Sept) and oncologist appointment (14 Sept) to see whether the che...

Hi Louie

Glad to hear slightly more positive news. Fingers crossed that the chemo helps and that your Mum suffers minimal side-effects.

Re: What to feed someone being and feeling sick all the time

Hi Diane

Hopefully by now you will have all the clinical information from the Macmillan nurse but if not do contact Jeni, the PCUK support nurse. Her details are at the top of every forum.

Kind regards

Re: No answers

Hi Robyn

Hopefully the antibiotics have kicked in over the weekend and your Dad is now a lot better than on Friday. Would appreciate an update as to how things are going when you have time.

Re: mum finally diagnosed.

Hi Louie Oh this makes me so angry!!! At the very least the hospital could have let your Mum have someone with her. Hopefully the IV antibiotics will have started working by now and it won't be long before your Mum is able to start chemo. You will find you need to push the hospital (in my experience...

Hi C

Do let us know how your Dad got on at the appointment. I know that whenever Ted gets any 'new' symptoms I always think it's caused by the pc but obviously that isn't always the case.

Re: No answers

Hi RSK and I'm sorry to hear about your Dad It's scary but in my experience the NHS is not a proactive service these days. Since my husband was diagnnosed in 2009 we have had many instances where I've "thrown my toys out of the pram" including making complaints to PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Se...

Re: Stage 4 pc 3-6months to live

Mints I wish there was some way to ease the pain. In time it becomes less raw. You know that you did everything you could for your husband and the most important thing he had was the support of a loving and beloved wife. Wherever you go a little piece of him goes there with you because you'll keep h...
