Re: It's back!

Firstly a huge thank you for your help and support. Just a quick update since my last post on Saturday 16th April. Despite several attempts to find out what was happening regarding the plan that was discussed, I couldn't get any further information. Then on Tuesday 19th April I received a call from ...

Re: It's back!

Hi all. Sorry for the delay in responding. Following my raised temperature on the Friday, my temperature went up to 38.4 on Sunday 10th, and as a result I went to A&E where they carried out numerous blood tests and a x-ray. They suspected an infection somewhere but couldn't pinpoint it so I was admi...

Re: It's back!

Thank you all for your information and support, this site is a godsend. Jeni, you mentioned a PET scan, but it's something I've not heard of before. The Consultant I see is the head of the surgical team, so when he said that he would review my case next week at his team meeting I assume he means by t...

Re: It's back!

Sorry Leila. I replied to Didge and Catherine before your post appeared. Based on what you have said, I will arrange for my Daughter to contact the Consultants secretary to see if anything has been put in place regarding chemo. The Consultant did say yesterday that he has a team meeting next week wh...

Re: It's back!

Thanks Didge and Catherine for your quick replies. I will mention the possibility of removing the remainder of the Pancreas when I next speak to the Consultant. This makes sense as during our meeting yesterday he did say that it was confined to the original site and showed no evidence of spreading. ...

It's back!

It's been some time since my last post, as things just seemed to'chug along'. But to recap.I had a Whipple procedure on 6th June 2014,and things went fairly well apart from a couple of infections. Things gradually improved until the middle of November last year, when I was admitted to hospital suffe...

Re: Massive surgery twice in 12 months

Hi Sheila, Initially all I could manage was some soup with a small amount of bread (taken with 120,000 units of Creon) but gradually managed eating small quantities of fish, chicken with vegetables. I still experienced some dumping, but as I said before, this gradually improved. After approximately 3...

Re: Massive surgery twice in 12 months

Hi Sheila, I had a Whipple on 6th June 2014,and really struggled to eat any solid foods for 8 weeks. When I started to eat I also suffered with dumping syndrome ( dizziness, nausea, and severe tiredness). My Consultant said that it would gradually improve in time. It did gradually improve over a per...

Re: Creon 40,000 units

Thanks for that Sue. I also now take an increased dose of 25,000 units, but that means taking up to 10 capsules with some meals. After taking that lot I don't feel like a full meal lol.

Creon 40,000 units

Hi all, I haven't posted for a while as things are just 'chugging' along, but I do keep up with posts. Has anyone else had problems with getting supplies of 40,000 units of Creon. I haven't been able to get any for a couple of months, and have been told by the pharmacist that they are no longer avail...

Re: Newbie Diagnosis Rollercoaster

Hi Lisa, Just like to wish you all the best for your surgery on the 10th. I had a Whipple on 6th June 2014. Had a 4 week stay in hospital due to an infection but since then it has been onwards and upwards. I didn't have any post operative Chemo and my last scan in March gave the all clear. My appeti...
