Re: Please help me, scared witless

Just wanted to comment and try to put your mind at ease a bit. My father lost his battle with PC 20 months ago and his symptoms were nothing like you describe it was mainly weight loss, bad indigestion and a pain that went through to his back. Also my daughter had her gall bladder removed last month...

Re: Unable to cope

I rarely comment on here but after following your story I had to comment. It's been 20 months since my dad died of PC and 22 months since my mum died of the stress she put herself under trying to cope. It's does get easier gradually but I still have quite a few bad days and even now sometimes go to ...

Re: An anniversary I don't want

I am sorry for you and I can understand how you feel. It is 15 months since my dad died of pc and 17 months since my mum died from the stress and worry, yet I still regularly come on and look how people are doing with their fight against this awful disease although I don't normally post like it is s...

Re: my heart is broken my dad has gone x

I'm so sorry for you, even when you feel you are prepared it is still hard to take in. It's been 8 months since I lost my Dad to this disease and 10 months since I lost my mum because of the stress of my dad's pc. Yet still I think I'll just phone them or pop in then realise. It seems so inadequate ...

Re: How long to get definite diagnosis

I don't comment on here often now but I just wanted to say that my dad was above pension age and he got attendance allowance which is for the over 65's and a blue badge. I hope you will be able to get this. The McMillan nurses I think sorted it out for him, if not it was the district nurses working ...

Re: What to do when your pushed away?

My dad was like this with my sister, whenever she visited it was 'your not staying long are you' or 'I was just about to eat my dinner'. He also refused to answer the phone to his oldest friend or let friends visit. The only people he seemed to tolerate was my cousin (to discuss their favourite foot...

Re: Is my mum close to th end?

Hi Skating I don't want to upset you and this is just my experience. My dad deteriorated in the last 2 weeks he was only eating a small portion of porridge in the morning and in the last 6 days didn't eat at all. All I can say is trust your instincts I hoped I was wrong and looking on the dark side ...

My dads journey has ended

Just a quick message to say dad didn't get a bed yesterday but this morning he took a turn for the worst and was a priority and got a bed today. He arrived there at around 2pm and died just after 5pm. He wasn't there long but at least he got his wish to die in the hospice and not at home. He lasted ...

I think my dads journey is nearing its end

I got a phone call from my dad this morning saying the pain was unbearable, the hospice told me to give him oramorph as well as his morphine patch and if still in pain repeat after 40mins which I did. The district nurse has been up and agreed it is time to going into the hospice, unfortunately there...
