Re: Dear dad
Dear Alison and Kev, my thoughts are with you right now, the people on this website are wonderful, they have really helped me through my father having PC and I know they will do the same for you. Sometimes we all just need somewhere to have a cry or a rant, and sometimes just reading other peoples s...

Re: Poorly dad
Paul, Petra, Deb, thankyou, Reading everyones experiences of PC reminds me that life goes on, however much it feels like it won't. Never realised how much of my day I spent with dad and now its thumb twiddling time. So, if it stays sunny I'll do some more planting, with no discussions about which se...

Re: Poorly dad
Morwenna, Jeni, Laura, Deb and Catherine, thankyou all for your support, it really has meant so very much being able to rant and share and sometimes just read. I've PCUK down as my charity on the funeral order and in the newspaper, cos like I told my dad when I got lots of £1 items, if I can help so...

Re: Poorly dad
Thankyou Catherine, Deb, everyone, Today, fri, I phoned the palliative care nurse at eleven this morning to ask if dad was still alive! She was shocked and phoned the ward (she had trouble getting through), which I couldn't get hold of and phoned me back half an hour later to tell me dad had died at...

Re: Poorly dad
Dad came home from hospital last thursday, the 14th feb, valentines day. He looked a bit bloated but he'd had a new stent fitted in his duodenum and his notes said he was eating and drinking (which I discovered he hadn't been). Over the weekend he got more bloated and on monday I called the GP for a...

Re: Poorly dad
Thankyou for you support Drad3, Morwenna and moderator2, dad finally came home last night. He's had another stent put in, lots of drips, and found he had low calcium, asked the nurses if they knew where he'd bled and where the new stent was but no one seemed to know and his discharge letter was unre...

Re: Dad has been admitted to hospital
Hi Morwenna, I'm so glad to hear your dad has asked for help, I know how stubborn parents can be. The last time my dad's plastic stent blocked he left it so long he had to be rushed to intensive care as he was going into septic shock! And its very upsetting when they say what they want you to have, ...

Re: Poorly dad
Hi everyone, thankyou so much for the support, I've been reading the forum for months and finally needed the support I can see everyone gets here. It's really helpful to have an idea of what might happen. Didn't get to talk to a doctor yesterday and all the nurses could tell me was that he could hav...

Re: Dad has been admitted to hospital
Hi Morwenna, just to say my thoughts are with you. My dad had a metal stent fitted in september last year after having jaundice and infections repeatedly and he couldn't have surgery and chemo wouldnt give him any more time. It helped for quite a while. Hope your dad is feeling better, I know how yo...
